Spearcavern 9: The Woes of Webs

The Dwarves of Spearcavern have been running around like lunatics trying to traverse their labyrinthine lair. The time has come to make this place a tad more efficient!

..Though the dwarves should be wary of being too eager for their goals..

As always, thank you very much for all your support, you bearded bastards. Sorry for the minor delay on this one- had to do a little extra animation at the beginning (as well as some real life things that have popped up, but no worries there)

Hurrah, I'm finally, I'm caught up! Last night, I finished a listening of the entire Kruggsmash opus, from Evil Kings to Spear Cavern. I listened at 75% speed - easier to fall asleep to, but, more importantly, to stretch out the episodes, so they are better savored :). There's only ~300, after all. I wouldn't want to rush through and miss anything, ya bearded bastard :)

Webs are probably over tuned yeah. I have two methods I use if I still am in the mood for a proper fight with web beasts. The first is to use giant war animals, as you saw with the titmouse in this video, the larger the creature is, the less they are affected by webs. In one of my latest forts I used giant war jaguars quite successfully too fend of a web titan. They are still individually likely weaker than the beast so you want a lot of animals, and maybe mix in your warriors as well. The second, arguably simpler, is to fight in stairwells. Web abilities seem to not work well or at all up and down stairs (I think they are level locked entirely but don't trust me on this) while normal fighting can be performed normally above or below someone. The safest from a web perspective is probably to use a single tile wide stair but this means you can only fight the beast one on one, it also hinders dodging quite a bit if I'm not mistaken. I usually use a 2x2 stairwell to fight in. This means I usually get some webbed dwarves that decide to fight on the same level as the beast, but it lets me use my numbers advantage. Sorry for the ramble, you probably already knew this. Anyway, great video as always! The cave levels do indeed have set differences in flora, including "trees", and fauna, with a lot of overlap.
