It's been really refreshing to see a story in DF not be all about conflict or emergencies, and that it can be as peaceful and intimate as this series has been. Excited to see what comes next!
2022-01-14 22:17:37 +0000 UTCI did notice the "Pumpkins with human features" thing before you mentioned it, although I was wrong on the meaning. Since it started appearing more and more at the end of the series, and was basically obvious in this episode, I got the impression that it was meant to signify that the Pumpkins we're slowly losing their sense of self and connection with nature. Like how at the end of Animal Farm the pigs became indistinguishable from humans. Waddlesquash originally started out as this small happy community living a simple, peaceful, and pastoral lifestyle but as it grew larger and more prosperous it abandoned that lifestyle and ended up with all of the hustle and bustle of the human cities with mills, factories, depersonalization, stress, and crime.
