I thought I'd do this as one of the first masterclasses. Tagging is the backbone of the application, good and effective tagging brings the best out of Pornspective. The application has lots of built in functions and performance routines all based around tagging so you should try to use it as fully as you can. Hence this masterclass!
First off, when you first begin to use Pornspective you'll have the option to start an empty system with only system generated tags or you can choose to have some out of the box tags I've already created. It's entirely up to you, the beauty of tagging is you can decide what tags you have and what you don't want. I'd always recommend taking the ones out of the box first though purely to show you examples of what can be done, you can delete tags later if you like.
Secondly, another great way to start is to import tags from an import file. If you search the posts here you'll see I've published two packs, one for Actresses and one for Studios. When you import these you'll inherit some great artwork and fan art which will instantly make your version look like the screenshots you see me post.
Right now I've given you those pointers, lets talk about tags.
Tags are attached to all your media, whether that be a photo or video or imageset. The more tags that the media has the better your filters can be on the left at drilling down to find the content you're wanting. Tags are put in groups, out of the box there are several groups and you can add your own groups if you wish to categorise a group of tags. Generally though the groups I've added are pretty comprehensive and cover all angles.
TIP ONE: By default tags are added to a media file by renaming the media file in a way that stores the tag, i.e. as part of the name or in a coded section such as (HD,BG,DP). I like the idea my titles are being cleansed however some do not. So you can opt when creating a Location to scan to not modify filenames and therefore the tag is kept in the database of the system only. You decide, either way is fine. Don't worry if you modify the filename outside of the application, the application stores a signature for each file which doesn't change when renaming and uses this as a backup way of tracking files that may have been renamed. Cool hey.
TIP TWO: Creating tags. You have three options here, first is creating them manually yourself by clicking the Actions and then Edit Tags. This will present an entry screen which I'll discuss further down the article. Second, as mentioned about you can import tags from a pack file. Again this is undertone Actions and Edit Tags menu. Download a pack file and upload this through the import utility. Third, you can enable the tag plugins (through Actions and Edit Plugins) and this will enable you to search online for tags through the search box on the main application (make sure you choose the drop down for search all online tags). The third option is best for studios and actresses which are generally the bulk of the tags anyway.
TIP THREE: If you are importing tags from online, and this is mainly actresses then make sure the Search Tokens don't have generic everyday names in there like Kelly or Riley. This will attach the tag to media that might not necessarily be the right actress. With search tokens you need to be happy that they are unique to that tag otherwise don't include them.
TIP FOUR: Inheriting Tags are a very powerful feature of Pornspective. They will double, triple or quadruple your tag usage when just adding a single tag. For example if you know an actress is Skinny, Brunette and Small chested then you should add these tags to the actress's tag. That way when the Actress is detected and tagged to the media then so will the inherited tags.
TIP FIVE: Artwork. Artwork can be added to any tag, obviously most effective when added to the Studios and Actresses. When downloading tags from plugins a limited amount of artwork is pulled through but by experience I find they're not great pictures. Instead you should use Google to search for images of the actress and studio. You need to find a good portrait image and this can be either face or full body, you decide what you prefer. You also should add Fan Art, this is essentially the backdrop used and with later versions I'll make this more prominent. Ideally the Portrait and Fan Art come from a set of images so they look consistent, but this is definitely only a recommendation. When adding images you don't have to save them to you harddrive from your browser, simply right click and copy and you can paste in the application - this saves a lot of time!
TIP SIX: When you have uploaded or pasted your image against a tag you can crop, flip and zoom into the image where it looks best. This will allow you to choose any image really in the google search and not worry about position or size as you can do that in the application. Portraits and Fan Art should be of a relatively high pixel size, i.e. 800x800 or higher, ideally something like 2000+. If you are using larger screens and DPIs then this is very important as images will look pixelated,
TIP SEVEN: Metadata. For Studios and Actresses there is another tab that appears relative to the type of tag. Most of the actress metadata is pulled from online sources but equally you can complete these yourself. I'll post a further Tags masterclass on metadata tagging which can auto tag based on chest size or height or BMI. If you want to do this now, have a look in the help section in the application which explains this, or wait for the next masterclass.
TIP EIGHT: Apply tags to media. Tags are generally applied to media though the searching of the files or using the AI system. However you can also manually add Tags through the Edit Media option by right clicking the media or hitting the pencil button on the media details display. The edit media screen will help you understand the structure of the naming of the file. a tip though is you can edit the name directly if you know the codes of the tags, which is a very quick way of tagging.
FINAL TIP: Using tags. The system will automatically populate the filters on the left when tags are populated. If you don't see a tag there then that means there is no media with that tag yet. The left hand filter panel acts like a drill down as you enable tags to be filtered. You can also right click and create a negative filter i.e. all items which don't have a certain tag. Finally I'd recommend creating a Browser(s) of your favourite tags or tag combinations. Check out the Edit Browsers feature!
Hopefully this covers a lot of tag info. I'm sure there's more so if you have any queries then drop me a message
