What's next in the pipeline?
Added 2020-01-25 09:47:20 +0000 UTCA really stable 1.1 out there now and really happy how well it's working, I've thrown in lots of photos and images on my collection and it's grabbed them and indexed them with no performance issues at all. Really happy!
So what next? Well the more photos and image files I add, especially image sets mean more files. I'm at the 35,000 mark now. What is obvious is the loading time of the application is taking longer (very much expected), it's now taking around 60 seconds to load. The trade off is 60 seconds initial load and lightening fast searching and filtering after that seems a good deal. However I've done some trial tests on a different loading approach and managed to get the 60 seconds down to 3-5 seconds with still the same benefits in terms of the lightening fast searching and filtering. It's a pretty fundamental change in approach so I'm giving it a thorough test before deciding to include it in the next 1.2. So folks in summary remain patient with the initial loading for the moment, I'm working on getting it much better.
What other things are planned? I want to enhance the video playback. This means better control on the media player, scanning forward/backwards etc - so that it's much more reactive like VLC player is. Secondly I want to include the ability to control Kodi from the media player. Essentially you decide to show a video or image set you can "cast" it to your Kodi media centre (which might be running on a kodi box or raspberry pi next to your TV). Already got a library working to do it, just need to plug it into 1.2
As you can see a pretty rapid roadmap for Pornspective just keeps packing the application with cool functions.
