Summer has officially arrived in Seattle, and I'm enjoying it best I can before I start longing for my beloved Autumn. I'm in my summery dresses, the fans are whirring, and I've already drank a whole pitcher of fresh watermelon juice (my favorite summer bev.)
My apologies for skipping out on the podcast part of the newsletter the past two months, I hope you still enjoy a written newsletter! Sometimes I just need the quickest, most accessible version of a project to get me to do it at all. Sometimes that's a podcast, and sometimes that's written. :)
So without further ado, let me share what I did as a full-time freelance illustrator in June of 2022:
1. I MADE A VIDEO GAME!
I (and my fiance Zach) made all the art for my very first video game as part of a game jam!
Zach made the items and concept for the town scene, and I did the rest of the art! I hope to make more game art in the future because I LOVED doing this!

2. I MADE ANOTHER NEWSPAPER COVER
I was hired to make another newspaper cover, this time for the Riverfront Times in St. Louis to celebrate their pride month.

3. I DID PORTRAITS AT NORDSTROM AGAIN
Nordstrom once again hired me to sit at a table in their store and draw free portraits of customers on greeting cards, this time for Father's Day!
4. PRACTICE PROMPT: "Get Thee Outside"
June's practice prompt was to draw outside! I did my drawing with Zach, my friend Justin, and Local Legend Francesca!! at a local park by the water, in the middle of a long urban hike that took us partly through a super flooded/mudded out trail.
But it was such an adventure!!
Back at home I re-worked the POSCA marker original digitally and now I'm loving it!
