General Update (asking for your input)

Hey folks, sorry I've been quiet recently! My family and myself came down with COVID, so I've been out of commission the last week or so. Put a real damper on working on Volume 6, but I'm trying to get back in that groove.

That all said,  I also got back my next book from my editor and it's almost ready to print. I simply need to get the cover art done and set everything up on Amazon. The artist I have in mind is a little busy at the moment, but hopefully I can get this all done sooner than later.

As for the channel, I'll be honest and say I'm kind of listless. Only RWBY content seems to be very successful, considering my Back to the Future video flopped pretty badly. So I'm asking you, the people that've supported me through thick and thin: what kind of content would you like to see on the channel?

Throw out any idea you have, no matter how crazy, I'll consider just about anything to get out of this funk!

Kind of late but I really like your "Fireside Writing Advise" series and the occasional bad fanfiction night videos since I cant always toon in on Fridays; more of those would be great, especially if Mollie is featured in it since you guys have good chemistry when bouncing ideas off each other. If neither of these are possible I would enjoy the reading and critiquing of more bad movie scripts and books, those are always fun.

Take your time and recover. That's more important.

Listless? I recommend a few weekend streams for gaming or writing streams. People enjoy streams. I did subscribe because of your fixing RWBY series, but what rooted me was your diversified content. People are more rooted if there are multiple reasons as to why people should stay. This is just my opinion, but it’s what I’ve observed. Your “Back to the Future” analysis video was something that flopped yes, but that’s actually bound to happen when you do what you want to do. Ultimately, my advice is do what you and your audience want to do most. It’s almost like dating advice, but for video content.

I would like to see the many Grimm designs and ghost stories like Team DARK. For the love of Hentai, why don't we see more pro Huntsmen that are at the same level as Winter or the drunk?

It was Fixing RWBY that made me subscribe to you and fund you trough Patreon. I think I have considered watching other videos yet after seeing how long some those videos are it does make me reconsider. That is only me though so maybe it´s only because I don´t care much about Back to the Future and other reasons videos are so long. As for how you can improve David Gipe and Armoraxis already have said it better than I ever can. PS: Also get well soon.

You read my mind about reading and analyzing books for writing tips. It'd be neat. Kinda like video of "oh they are doing this kinda shit"

well, you could lean into your writing side - critiquing the writing of various stories, movies, shows etc. through video essays, or even doing something like "What Ifs" either to flex your writing skills or as a clever way to impart writing knowledge onto the viewer - like a "what if Cinder killed Jaune" or something, to illustrate writing a villain defeating a hero, how to write tragedy, and leave a way for the heroes to overcome such a loss, etc... or, if you plan to continue to react, I HIGHLY recommend looking up NicoB and how he did his reaction content - he didn't react to many series, but I feel it's the best way to get around the copyright system (even if it isn't entirely foolproof, as he still faced issue with it, but evidently people from Youtube gave praise to his methods). And, depending on what you are reviewing and how old it is, I'd also recommend doing multiple episodes in a single video, if possible - yes it may shorten your series, but it makes things more convenient for the viewer, hypothetically gives more entertaining content with each video, and if the show is old, the viewer can get to see your reaction to later scenes much faster than if you upload a single episode per video (idk if this works statistically, this is just my own bias mixed with what I'd assume general audiences would want - it's also possible there may be some copyright witchcraft that frowns upon using multiple episodes per video, so idk) you could also try taking everything you learned from Fixing Rwby and make an entire fantasy world and story through multiple videos - opening doors to world building content, character writing, etc. (not too different from my earlier point, but with a much more focused end goal of making a story/series that your audience can follow along during its creative inception to its final stages) and lastly, if all else fails, I encourage you really look at what content you enjoy and weigh that against what you feel you are capable of, and see if you can improve and take inspiration from other creators to make a far reaching audience. Like, what do other reaction channels do that you don't? What about other commentators, writers, etc... I also recommend trying to expand yourself, get involved in other communities and try to advertise your channel there - pretty much exactly how you would advertise a book, maybe try collaborating with other creators so you both expose each other to the other audience? And don't forget to really do research into the machinations of the youtube algorithm (I am sure you do, but it's always nice to just reaffirm this), as there are countless quirks of the system that can just kill channels or make otherwise mediocre channels vastly more popular than they have any right to be >.> Anywho, sorry for the wall of text, and even if none of this proves useful, I hope for the best for both you and the channel :D

Armoraxis

I love your Rwby content
