Process Video - Game Day Poster!

Hey friends and patrons, happy... Wednesday?? What!?

That's right! I'm poppin' in mid-week to share with you the complete process video from my recent exciting Game Day Poster project for the Seattle Storm women's basketball team!

I'm having so much fun getting more of these poster-style projects, because this kind of design is honestly fairly difficult for me. But as with everything, with each experiment I learn more and more.

Some things I experimented with/learned through this process:

Combining 'doodle style' line work with solid shapes.
Representative illustration (the layers of the landscape, the animal characters) combined with patterns and graphic elements (the lines of the rain, interlocking layers made by the ground the animals 'stand' on.)
A continued simplification of the line work (removing excess details in the grass in the middle layer, in the deciduous trees, and in the bushes of the bottom layer.)

I had a lot of fun with this one, and I think I'm slowly learning more about this kind of design, and what I like in this kind of design!
