Monday Thoughts (Ep.29)

Hello friends and patrons! Another happy week to you! And another week that my weekend update turned into a beginning of the week update.

It’s felt like another relatively busy week, with unfortunately the thing falling behind has been my art practice. I’ve been trying to keep up with Inktober, with a new illustration every day, but I am currently five- count em, FIVE- days behind.

I’ve been helping fill in a little bit with one of the coffee shops I work at and training at the other job I took. I’m trying to not be too hard on myself but... right now it feels like I’m not placing value on the right things.

It’ll work out, it just feels like a weird time right now.

That said I did do a few art things last week! I did a few quick encouraging inktober pieces:

I also met with Tori and blazed through some of the big things we needed for our first convention this weekend! During our work day I made:

1. A larger, hand painted sign of my logo to attach to the top of my display!

2. A few displays for my earrings, pins, and stickers! I used a few frames I had around my house, and some cork board that Tori bought at a local non-profit secondhand art supply store! It’s simple and cute and feels so professional!

3. We designed and set up our displays! We marked out the size of the Artist Alley table on the floor with tape then set it up exactly how we want to set it up this Friday.

In my display I have:

-A few inktober originals

-A few hanging prints, including my limited edition letterpress prints

-My full collection of postcards

-The remainder of my earrings and pins

-My hand die-cut stickers

-Two books with all of my print options, large and small.

-My business cards

-Hazel, the zine Tori and I contributed to!

A big collection of awesome fun products that I never in a million years thought I’d have by this point when I was dreaming of tabling at a con In January. Who knows what I‘lol have and have achieved by next year, or five years from now!

Tori also did an amazing job on her side of course! She ordered a bunch of beautiful prints and produced her first zine/mini art book!!

So we should be all set up for our first CONVENTION TABLE this weekend!

I’m hoping it’ll be a good time whether or not we turn any sort of profit! (But I would at least like to earn back my table price... We’ll see!)

Non-Art Life:

Seattle has apparently had one of the driest Octobers on record, and we had a very dry summer. This has led to absolutely gorgeous autumn leaf colors that everyone in the city has been enjoying. I’ve especially been savoring the colors on my walks to and from the cafe in Greenlake. I’m still obsessed.

The picture above is the view I get walking down the hill to my home if I leave a little later from work. This city is absolutely beautiful.

As always I feel much better about my progress after writing it all out every week. If anything, Patrons, thank you for the gift of this weekly moment to pause and look back on what I’ve done. Even in times like the last two weeks when I’ve been fairly discouraged I have this moment to catalogue anything that I’ve done to work toward my goals. It truly helps. I hope it means something to you.

Maybe take this as a suggestion to you to sit down and spend a few minutes looking back on your week and what has brought you joy, or that you should be proud of. Please let me know if you do, and if it helps you.

The next time I talk to you I’ll have completed the literal biggest goal of my year! I can’t wait!

xoxo
