Hello Patrons, and happy Friday! It’s been cloudy and drizzly this week here in Seattle. I hope wherever you are sunshine and flowers have started setting in, but we all know spring doesn’t always happen that way.
So! I’ve been self-employed for almost a month, and boy has it felt slow-going the last week or two. The first three weeks I was extremely excited, energetic, and optimistic. Lately I’ve been feeling a little down, but to be honest I think it may be because I haven’t stopped and taken stock in a bit.
I've received a few commissions and shipped them off to very happy customers, I’ve been given my first review on Etsy and it was lovely, I’ve been making progress on finding a color palette I am happy with. I have been completely enamored with digital art, practicing and learning and getting happily sucked in for hours to a digital drawing like the one above.
I have made connections with artists I admire on social medias, who have been so sweet and receptive and have made plans to meet up with! I’ve had the honor of being asked for advice on art, getting started, and materials! I have never been in that position and I am so excited to provide whatever knowledge I have. I love the idea that I might inspire someone to make more art just as others have inspired me. If Can’t Believe It.
Finally, using almost all of the money that I’ve made this month I bought a printer!! After too much research I ordered a new Epson Photo Hd XP 15000 (why do printers have such stupid names?) For around $400 on amazon I ordered the printer, Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Matte (For Prints), Super Glossy Sticker Paper (for stickers), and a paper cutter (so I don’t have to use my exacto anymore.) I’m planning to now print all of my own prints rather than going to Fed Ex or Office Max. To make money I really want to sell my own products with the images I’ve made so far. I want to make stickers, cards, prints, journals, zines, and whatever else. Suggestions are completely welcome.
Okay, those are all of my updates. Perhaps a little too list-y. I’m not exactly sure what you all are interested in, so please let me know! Emotions, specifics, more process? Would you like videos? Doodles? Please comment and let me know so I can make this platform for all of us.
I’ll have an extra special sale coming up for you all in my next post so stay tuned!
As always, thank you so much for joining me here, and for your support. It means the world to me. And I hope you have a great week!!
xoxo,
Ragon
