Welcome to my Studio

Hey hey hey, come on in! Yes, my studio is in my kitchen.

So Zach and I live in a one bedroom apartment in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. It really is a score in a city where EVERYONE is struggling with skyrocketing rent. The apartment is a little 1950's apartment that has been little upgraded since it was built, and that's what we love about it. Our oven and stove are from the 50s and they are light pink. Amazing.

But anyway! My studio has recently upgraded from being my kitchen table to sharing the dining space with my kitchen. I like to have light and a connection to the outdoors at least a degree while I work, and this area is closest to the brightest window in the apartment. And our beloved rosemary bush, which is right up against the window because we live on the first floor.

On the shelf lamp I store items of inspiration (a plant, a cat statue, a buddha statue) and my current collection of earrings. Below are inspirational books (including a vegetables guide) my planner, and sketchbooks. At the very bottom is where I keep all my packaging for my earrings and prints.

My desk was a gift from a friend who was moving, which allowed me to move away from the kitchen table. And you know I lo-o-ove my red vegetable chair that I found from Goodwill. One not so fun thing about this placement is the old school mail slot opens right under the desk so my feet are constantly freezing. I guess that will be my air conditioning in the summer!

My desk of course is surrounded by art from other artists that I find inspiring. Of course.

The wooden board my supplies sit on is a cutting board that my sister Kenna brought back for me from France when she studied abroad in Europe. The candle is lavender scented and reminds me of my time studying abroad in Lacoste, France, and reminds me to relax and enjoy my new job. The quartz was part of my father's rock collection when he was a boy. And of course it's important to have easily reachable colored pencils and pens so there's not even a second between and idea and putting that idea on paper.

The ram reminds me of strength.

I also keep a small board of Art and Business tasks that I have to achieve that week, which I cross off as I finish. Of course with dog stickers added. Of course.

Thanks for joining me! And as usual thank you so much for supporting me here. It means the world to me.

Noticed the Japan travel book on your shelf. Very creative and cool country. Hope you can visit it one day.
