I've been marveling at the similarities between you and Mabel since I started watching you react to Rick and Morty. :) It's delightful to me that you picked up on it, too, and you could not have chosen a better sweater to wear! It looks JUST like her iconic rainbow sweater, sans rainbow of course. There's a schpiel I cut and paste, traditionally, into the comments when a new person starts down this journey, so allow me to indulge said tradition, even though you're already mostly "in the know": 1) AVOID SPOILERS LIKE THE PLAGUE. This show has several secret twists and reveals, and the payoff for you (and for us) will be much much better if you come upon those revelations naturally. Thankfully we're a pretty good community when it comes to that stuff, we keep our mouths shut and don't really do more than 'tease' in our comments. 2) PAY ATTENTION TO EVERYTHING. This show is GREAT about callbacks and little hints surrounding it's big mysteries. There were a couple of things in the background even in this episode that foreshadow things to come. You don't necessarily have to decode every secret message thrown at you, but be aware that there's a lot going on behind the scenes. A character is saying gibberish? Play it backwards and you'll hear a secret message. Something unexplainable is going on in the background? Likely it plays into a future episode. This show is superb in it's internal consistency, just about everything you see DOES have an explanation. You, like Dipper and Mabel, have to find it. Bonus note for you, Alycia: This DOES take place in the same multiverse as Rick and Morty, and the shows do have parallels, especially later. In fact, did you go back to "The Rickshank Redemption" and look for the Gravity Falls reference in it? I'll give you a hint, it's in the Council of Ricks area! 3) FAIR WARNING - THIS SHOW GETS VERY DARK. This is the closest I'll get to a spoiler, don't read this if a basic statement of what to expect would ruin the thing for you. The show is two seasons, 20 episodes each, plus a lot of little shorts that aren't required watching but are definitely amusing (I can provide a recommended list on where to "pepper" said shorts into the latter half of your Season 1 reactions). Season 1 is mostly skimming the surface of the mystery, but by the end of it things start making a little headway, and Season 2 is one big roller coaster ride. Being that this was a Disney show, you might think there's a certain level of "safety" to it. Well, think again. There are some VERY adult-level horrifying situations as well. More than one character legitimately DIES before the end of the series. Be prepared to laugh and cheer and clap, but be prepared to gasp and bulge out your eyes and shudder with horror as well. Very VERY worth it, in my opinion, but still. Anyway, that's the deal. I'm excited to watch your continued reactions, I think this is going to be a great amount of fun!
