Well! That was a pretty good one. Some good character work between Adora and Shadow Weaver, and some great moments from Team Evil. I wish the whole episode had been as funny and tightly written as the opening, but that would be a high bar to clear, so I’m not too disappointed.
I really like how the adults in Adora’s life--Angella and Castaspella--were intent on keeping her away from Shadow Weaver. Truly protective authority figures looking out for her is such a heartwarming thing, especially after the life she’s led.
And Adora is a First One! With some interesting tidbits about Mara thrown in on top of it. So the First Ones were still on Etheria a thousand years ago when Mara broke the world. That...doesn’t exactly seem like a very long time on the scale of histories and fading into legend. Hrm. Oh well, it’s not like it’s a major gripe.
Overall, I liked this one a bunch, but it doesn’t quite make it to the tier of Light Spinner and Promise. The Price of Power comes in at my new #4 for seasons 2&3, between Roll With It and White Out, and my new #6 overall, between In the Shadows of Mystacor and White Out. There’s been a lot of good stuff in seasons 2&3 so far, and I’m looking forward to that trend continuing.
Up next is going to be the start of episode 22! We’ll be getting to that tomorrow. Streamwise, I started Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc yesterday (you can see the streams I’ve already done here) and will be continuing that tomorrow or the day after, I’m not sure which. You can catch those streams live at my Twitch channel, if you’d like.
That’ll be all for tonight! Thank you all for tuning in, and thank you to my 63 patrons for making it so I can do this for a living! I’ll see you guys next time!
