Heartstopper: A Therapists Thoughts
Added 2025-06-04 04:04:38 +0000 UTCOh Hi!
I FINALLY have this episode done! I sat down with my friend Janet who is a licensed mental health professional and talked about the series as a whole and all of the characters. I hope you enjoy and I am so sorry it took forever for me to post this one!
Thanks for being here 💙💙

That is such a good point. Perhaps this is one of those things where it worked really well for them with younger kids but now that they are older, they are struggling to find a new balance together.

It makes me wonder how long Julio has been appeasing Jane to help "manage" her anxiety. And that maybe deferring to her when the kids were younger didn't have the same impacts as it does now that they are teens? Meaning I could see Jane as a mom dealing with Postpartum Anxiety (I did), and him trying to make things "easier" for her during her crisis, and never challenging or changing those patterns of behavior.

2025-06-04 13:09:55 +0000 UTCReally enjoyed listening to this and the thoughts on the characters mental health. A lot of these points really hit home especially around people pleasing and having to find your worth through behaving a certain way. Thank you ☺️ ❤️
