Hi!
I am posting this as I am editing the episode for this week. As you may have seen in the community chat, I am a bit behind editing because on Friday, extremely last minute, I drove to Atlanta to attend the screening with Kit. I am so sorry that the episode was not ready for the advanced posting here!!
Here are some pics and a video to make up for it. I will tell you a bit about my experience. I wasn't even sure if I was going to see this film in theaters due to my own stance on war movies. However, I randomly managed to get an invitation to the screening sent to me on Thursday afternoon for the Friday screening and tickets were free.... So I loaded up my partners car (bc it is nicer than mine π) with my friend Katie and drove to Atlanta.
We were the second people in line. So, we were lucky enough to snag front row seats. Now, you're thinking, "Front row??? At a movie??" We also had that thought but we were VERY pleased to find out the seats laid almost completely flat so it was not an issue at all. The rows were super spread out so you weren't really near the row behind you or in front of you.
The film was exactly what I expected of a war film based on a legit memory from an American soldier. Very much not for me, but it was worth the trip for the fun of seeing Kit speak in person about it. They had him come out at the beginning as they introduced the film. They had the middle row reserved for the cast and the moderators, so they sat and watched the film with us. At the end, they came up and sat in the front of the theater for the discussion. Kit was only asked one question. ( π ) I have a video of his answer in the attachments, as well as a handful of photos.
All in all, I am so grateful for the opportunity to do something like that. It was a really fun road trip for me and Katie. The mall the theater was in was one of the fanciest malls my little rural Tennessee self has ever been in. They had a Loewe, Celine, and a Givenchy- all things I know only because of the Heartstopper cast and are stores I certainly have not seen in person until now. π But the film was just not my cup of tea. That being said, it was well made and the acting is really, really good. The sound design was very interesting and stuck out as a big win for the film overall. I am sure the crowd it is made for will eat it up. Our line buddy we befriended wrote a review and I think she said it quite well. So rather than going on about it here, I am just going to link it for you. If you have specific questions around the film, Kit's role, etc. - I am happy to answer. So just know the comments of this post could be spoilery. I tried to keep the actual post spoiler free. π
Thanks for hanging out here! I will have the episode up as soon as humanly possible!!!
xx
