Glimmer has been healed, Brightmoon has been defended, and the Princess Alliance is whole again. On the Horde’s side, Catra got promoted, Entrapta has even more tricks up her sleeve, and Scorpia…was there, I guess?
Overall, I felt the episode was a bit cramped. Adora vs Catra got some focus, which was cool, but the villainous trio overall–who are my favorite characters in the show by a wide margin–didn’t get much screentime. It’s Adora’s show, yes, but the trio were there–but Entrapta got one fun moment near the start and then was basically a non-entity for the rest of the episode, and Scorpia got it even worse–her fight was about five shots long, and she got one gag and zero other impact.
Oh well. Seeing the princesses fight together was nifty, seeing Adora’s powers develop was nifty, and the fact that I wasn’t sure who was going to win was actually fairly suspenseful.
“Nifty” doesn’t really push it into the top, though. This show is at its best when it’s being funny (Light Hope) or is focused on Adora’s personal relationships (In the Shadows of Mystacor, and especially Promise). The action sequences are kind of just pretty good; rarely have they impacted me much at all. As a result, The Battle for Brightmoon comes in at my new #6 for the series, between The Beacon and The Sword, Part 2.
Up next for the liveblog is going to the the three Patron Picks! We’ll be starting with Paranoia Agent on Monday. For streams, I’m going to be changing my plans a bit–I have a new capture card coming in the mail that will be here in a week or two that will hopefully make it so that streaming my PS4 games isn’t fuzzy and horrible, so we’re going to be doing Switch titles in the meantime instead of doing The Outer Worlds. I’m planning to stream some Pokemon Shield pokedex work and stuff today, but keep an eye out for Astral Chain and maybe Transistor in the coming week or two.
Anyways, thank you all for tuning in! I’ll see you next time!
