I'm starting to see that this novel it's going to try open relationship or at least that's how I'm seeing it because of so many love interests there is and I'm not going to say it's good or bad because in the end it depends on how deeply and how well-thought-out the story is gonna be. As from what I've seen, open relationships can end well if they are done well, mostly in the honesty department. If there not honest enough when there in an open relationship, usually that is what causes most problems. So if he is thinking of being in an open relationship, being honest with every partner he has would be the best option. Sorry for my little rant and again welcome back.
