My ear problems are the worst they have ever been today. It just seems to be a condition that's worsening and worsening, while the ENT specialists I've seen don't seem to care because I "can hear". This is a real bitch and every day is a struggle to keep motivated. I made my Patreon account to help keep me focused and motivated, so patrons, what words of advice can you give to help someone struggling to stay focused and work hard?

Since I am just an uneducated labourer from Alberta, Canada, there is not much I can offer in way of advice, but I would just like to say that I really enjoy what you do and hope that you can get the help you need so you can continue being an awesome artist and person in general.

When nobody else celebrates you, learn to celebrate yourself. When nobody else Compliments you, Then compliment yourself. It's not up to other people to keep you encouraged. it's up to you. Encouragement should come from the inside.

Well I ain't a doctor, just a simple soldier, but I do know a bit about hard work and motivation. Just keep your chin up and keep fighting. Just keep doing your best, and don't let it beat you. Get mad at it, if need be, but the best thing to do is what you're doing. Lean on your friends and then when you can stand, get back into the fight.

God knows, I'm no expert, but I find tilting your ear over a bowl of steam (mint, eucalyptus or otherwise) helps with generally most problems. And the daily Pixar and Dreamworks films they're showing right now don't hurt either. A belated Merry Christmas, and a happy new year.

I believe that every man has to find his own way of getting by. We are all so different (in my case i have some sosial "issues") you have to go deep and try to nalyse how YOU work. And how you can fix that. I'm babbling... All in all i believe you have the strength to keep going! Hope the money helps, other then that I'm sorry for not being of much use. Best of wishes from Norway and may luck be on your path. Sorry for the terrible English :P

Hey Dan, I just asked my mom, who happens to be a neurologist abour your ear problems. To tell the exact cause without examination and just from the infos you give in your vid is impossible, off course, but she gave me a different approach however. She said, that it could also be possible, that not the eustachian tube but perheaps your jaw joints could cause the cracking and popping noises. I'm not familiar with the healthcare situation in Britain, nor with the town your living in, but if the doctor you are seeing is not helping at all, I would try to change to a different one, for a 'second opinion' or whatever, till I find one, that is actually helping. I do also know however, that this could be quite hard, if you live in a sparsely populated area or so... In any case, if it is possible for you and the idea with the jaw joints is not to abstract to you, you could also try to see an orthodontist. By the way, I couldn't send you a private message on facebook, so I figuered, that this would be a more intimate place over here than on your public page. Get well soon and greetings from Germany Pascal

I don't really have any valuable advice to give, motivation can be hard to find once you've lost it. You have try to stay positive regarding your health no matter how hard it is. Keep doing your thing, keep writing, do everything that makes you happy. We have faith in you and when you've gotten through the rough you'll come out stronger and better than ever. You're a great person with great talent and you should know that as long as you're around, we'll always have your back. :)

I find that creating a schedule helps me keeps focusing and abide by the times I set but I think the reason you can make it a bit easier if you plan times for rest as well as work for the rest all I can really say is this just keep marching on when it gets though as you can see people support your through thick and thin. Hell I'd freaking get on plane for ya just to get to play video games with ya so keep strong bro!

You guys and non-guys are just awesome people, even in the 1 minute it took me to read through those comments I feel more positive and energetic. I like this :D

Hey Dan, you have to stay focused because SOMEONE HAS TO THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN! See, my son's 11 and is a big fan, and as a parent I'm stoked to see him learning about crazily diverse topics like the stupidity of extreme copyright straightjacketing, the importance of treasuring the intriguing fringe-dwellers of society like John Clewes, and how you can build a career outside the big corporates if you've got enough talent, passion and drive. So I know life sucks when your health ain't 100%, but as Stuart says, you've got major talent and your problems will pass, so power up, DB! Awesomeness with aching ears is still DAMN AWESOMENESS. Cheers from Aotearoa New Zealand Ps. If you quit, who's going to let all the 11 year olds know the most vital lesson of all? That real mean who are self-confident know that if they find themselves standing there in Lara Croft kit, the main thing is TO WORK IT LIKE A BOSS.

ENT shit is a bitch and a half; the first time I ever took painkillers eecause I had to was a few years ago when I had a simultaneous middle and inner ear infection. The entire right side of my face swelled up. As for staying motivated, just try to remember that your ear problems are temporary, and you're pretty blessed to be able to make what is, at the moment, a fair bit of money doing something creative that you enjoy doing, and if you let yourself falter a man will come and take that from you and smash your microphone on stage.

I sadly don't have any advice that could help probably but if you want you can try reading about this anime character :) my description would be "the most motivated and optimistic guy that never gives up his hard work" http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Rock_Lee
