This is a very interesting comparison you pointed out, though I wonder if the connections you pointed out are intentional or just one of those overanalyzed moments where the author/artist just sits there and goes “uh…. oh! yeah I definitely meant that!”

With Clara's position and mission she must contend with many issues and responsibilities and using a diversion in knitting would normally afford her a moment to center her thoughts and occupy her hands with physical activity that may be comforting in practice. Ironically weaving the yarn into intricate loops interconnecting and overlapping threads reflects how Clara manages her Psionic feedback in her social and political connections. She exercises practiced patience in constructing her image of the data she receives to form the most logical application of information, and with practice skill predicts the pattern of evolution for the sum of information . This being said, when Clara faces uncertainty, or obscurity in the information she gleans from current circumstances she struggles with how they integrate into the overall pattern she has woven together. Subconsciously I believe Wyatt and Cynthia have felt this about Clara and recognize her situation may require an alternative release, this they conspire to provide Clara with an unexpected, but potentially rejuvenating alternative.
