What's thought processes during conflict almost have a cognitive ability ( ure diviners ) 2. count draemores daughter is eound up way way too tight which will favor Cynthia in the future ? 3 the letter Clara gave to captain Ortega is a written copy of the surrender speech given by felicity cantor 4. as for Clara not asking for any sort of reparations will definitely make draemore as well as Andrew cayston sit up and take notice 5. Andrew capstone will challenge wyatt to a duel but will lose but not be killed. which will really screw with Andrew's mind. just some pre weekend thoughts. Really have a great weekend

Hoping Wyatt's family remain safe, dread to think what Wyatt would do...😨

2025-04-22 18:07:00 +0000 UTCThe Duke and the Prince both contemplate the structure of a kingdom. Duke Draymore emphasized how the use of violence enforces the order and power, where as the prince pondered the value of the pieces involved, favoring the knight for it's unique moves while seeing the pawn ability to evolve into almost any other piece. Jade turns out to be a mole/spy playing at loyalty to several prominent figures, while apparently serving directly under Veronica Draymore. I know not how he fools the friends and loved ones of the person he pretends to be, likely some form of tech or gene manipulation to alter his image. But I find it most interesting that he is pretending to be a commoner to perform his work. Then again, as a commoner he would be less scrutinized by nobles that were always suspecting each other of ulterior motives. What ever the case, Jade has a hint about Wyatts' origins only to suspect he is more than everything he has been able to discover so far. Jade didn't include anything about Wyatt in his reports to any he spoke with this time. Being at Machha he likely had heard of the Haego battle, maybe even rumor of the leaked video. Jades reference to discord likely refer to the prince's elevations and awards stemming from the Haego conflict that stirred the nobles when announced. My thoughts are that Duke Draymore wants to ensure he is the power that controls the violence involved in ruling, where the prince concerns himself with aspects of power and foundations for ruling by realizing where each power originates and is used. The chess game reveals the prince weakness in tactic is in diversions and hidden strategy. The duke may be weak in ensuring the body supports the head in leadership. His roman like perspective, 'give them bread and games' suggest he does not value the body (commoners) but only remaining the head (noble/regent). Veronica seems to be on par with Clara but for her ideology serving her father. She is a dangerous woman to be sure and is using Jade to ensure others loyalties align supporting her fathers rule. Jade is ruthless and cunning, so I believe Wyatt's family could be in danger, if he feels Wyatt could be extorted to protect them. Reports are arriving for both the duke and the prince, and each will have significant impact where we go from here. Will the Yichanti reply be favorable, and what will it provide for the prince? Is the duke about to hear Haego was retaken for House Ferrentis and his forces were also defeated there by Clara? Is House Ferrentis going to remain neutral or side with the prince? Ekhidna has provided another great chapter in The Black Ship, thank you.

I can wait a day if it means he has time to make him feel all is well with family. Since that means he will write with full mind ability and will not mind when he does write. So thanks for the chapter and keep this quality, we will continue wanting more.

Because it opens up so many different avenues of storytelling and so many different directions all of them fantastic. I cannot wait to see what they do next.

Maybe Maximillian could keep himself busy on Volantis and build a vineyard near the Staples. Create a "Wolfhound" wine label.

I seriously hope the prince has enough foresight to send someone to silently watch over them. Or someone in Wyatt’s family is going to be killed. I truly hope that’s not something planned for the future of the story.

2025-04-22 12:59:05 +0000 UTCI been looking forward to this episode. To see what the duke and his allies are doing helps to balance all that's happening. Jade definitely seems to be a noble. He starting to find the peacies that is wyett's history. So many folks he seems to bow to, hard to gauge witch one is his true master. The duke's daughter seem to be on top of that list. Kinda like hearing the philosophy of the duke. He seems to understand much of the universe of man. Can't wait to see his reaction to the return of Clara's captives if receiving the massage at the end is any indication. Thanks to jade's perception on lukax my fear of the man has been reduced. I honestly thought they were one and the same till now. It amazes me the different philosophy in this episode and how they sound similar. It's really cool to me. Nice to see lukax isn't giving the prince wins in chess. Good to have someone better then you on your team.

2025-04-22 12:56:06 +0000 UTCWyatt Staples is the pawn that everyone forgets, and is at some point the unexpected move that changes the game. His history even at the Academy is not a bit of note, just enough skill to be a pilot, not enough to be marked for anything exceptional. His past is not noted due to him being a simple commoner and typical of the kind to enlist, never filling out information that was not 100% required, so no family info is included. Now, when they are looking at all the ties, one normally finds are not there. So a common pawn is now a baron, a pilot of unexpected talent and still an unknown except to his closest friends(Clara and Cynthia). We all should be so lucky.
