Monthly Subscriptions

Hey guys,

I just wanted to alert everybody that Patreon is having all creators who bill per-video (like me!) switch over to a per-month subscription schedule. This is a mandatory change, every creator has to do it at some point during 2025. I’ve scheduled my switch over for June 1st, 2025.

Unfortunately, this will result in a change in your membership. I’ve listed the changes below.

Newsletter tier at $1 per Video will become $1 per Month
Early Access tier at $3 per Video will become $3 per Month
Pen tier at $7 per Video will become $7 per Month
Mug tier at $12 per Video will become $12 per Month
T-Shirt tier at $23 per Video will become $23 per Month

The good news is that no action is required on your part, so if you don’t care, you have my permission to stop reading now.

The bad news is that this creates a more frequent billing schedule, one that some of you may not have signed up for.

Therefore, in the meantime, I would encourage those of you on some of the higher tiers (the Pen, Mug, or T-Shirt tiers) to consider dropping down to the $3 or the $1 tier, which you can learn how to do here. You don’t have to, but if you want to, feel free.

Same goes for the $3 Early Access tier. If $3 per Month is too much, please feel free to drop down to the $1 tier.

Basically what I’m saying is that since the frequency is going up, feel free to pay whatever you want.

After the switch, I’m going to be consolidating the reward tiers so that they make more sense with a monthly billing schedule. But if you’re signed up for at least $1 per Month, I’ll make sure that you get both the Newsletter and Early Access to the Next Video.

And finally, I know that some people never-ever-ever check their Patreon account, so this is addressed to the people reading this post in the far distant future, trying to figure out why Patreon started charging them on a monthly schedule.
