The Destruction of Thebes (335 to 334 B.C.E.)

At long last, another Alexander video!  R.I.P. Thebes.

At some point the decision was made to squeeze a bunch of anachronistic objects into the animation for absolutely no reason.  The hours are long, and you've gotta keep yourself amused somehow.  Right now I'm lovin' that cute piggy bank.  If I can justify bringing that thing back in future videos, it's coming back.

This one should be going out to the public in the coming week some time...  I haven't 100% decided yet... maybe Wednesday.

Also, not to tease you guys too much, but you should expect a special delivery related to the Roman Civil War relatively soon.  Stay tuned.

Enjoy!

They definitely wore makeup, (although I'm not sure if this started in Macedon or if it started once they got to Persia,) and they were definitely a bunch of pretty bi dudes. From what I can tell, your head canon is 100% accurate.

I recently read a book on alexander's life and campaigns, and apparently he spared the descendants of a famous poet named Pindar from the utter destruction of Thebes. So technically not all the Thebians were killed or sold into slavery

So that crazy Colin Farrell movie has completed replaced my head canon for Alexander and his cronies with a bunch of pretty bi dudes wearing too much eyeliner. Idk if this is good or bad.
