Thank you! Honestly, sometimes I write with the express intention of "make this story take a few 'attempts' to get through", and that comes from some of the the stories I love. With any of my characters that pretend to be helpful, I always want their schemes to have some believable foreshadowing and some implication that as a reader we can see, but that a character in the subject's position will miss what's being implied. The client that commissions all of the Kayla stories loves how amoral she is, especially in her first appearance, and it's kind of the guiding light for writing her.

2021-12-15 10:39:13 +0000 UTCI've been trying to get through this story for a while but it is quite difficult to get through, and I mean that in the very best way. I love the way Kayla slowly takes control, and the little commands and suggestions that she speaks in the middle of conversations, like the "Close your eyes" on page 9, and the "You want to be a good subject" on page 13, are just wonderful.
