5E Hexcrawl (Patron PDF v2022-06-16)

Updated version of the 5E Hexcrawl series in a convenient PDF for patrons!

Bunch of stuff I still want to do with this series, but this release notably adds the full Designing the Hexcrawl and Running the Hexcrawl series to the collection.

Enjoy!

Cheat sheets are proving difficult, actually. Because I've taken a much more modular approach with the 5E Hexcrawls ("here's a bunch of options you can mix-and-match" versus the original "here's what I'm doing"), designing a cheat sheet that's useful and not confusingly useless is tricky. Might end up being a selection of cheat sheets and the Word doc to make your own.

Can't wait for the cheat sheet!

Sweet! I remember playing hex crawls back in the original X series. I remember our DM having fun with us as we camped and had the fighter on watch. We were awoken from our beds by a load thud and a scream, and came out to find our fighter under a woolly mammoth. We spent the next few minutes trying to help him and scratching our heads how that happened. Turns out the DM had rolled a Giant Roc as a wandering monster but couldn't be bothered to play the encounter. So he decided that they had been flying overhead with their dinner when they were startled and dropped it. Hence the flattened fighter under an unexpected mammoth. If you recall, the back of the Expert Rule book had all about wilderness encounters and how to run them. I feel it is a lost art and can actually make for a nice change in pace, when you are trying to navigate large distances without the ability to fast travel like a computer game.
