A certain faction.

Here is the fist concept art. While I am trying to speed up chapter releases these aren't coming as fast as I've hoped but I wanted to get at least something for the 100+ subscribers mark.

Thank you very much.

Ban was mentioned in ch8 of Ecdysis. I am not really sure I understand what you mean by endoskeleton under exoskeleton. That sounds rather redundant.

Snus

I don't remember reading about an insectoid bioweapon ban, but ok. Insects do make a good template to work from due to their exoskeletal armoring, even moreso if you add an endoskeleton (which the carry-all in the 'back' is doing). On first glance it does look like some freakish human-bug combination, until you see the operator's legs folded under them. They are 'driving' it. Love the artwork Snus, please keep it up. Great attention to detail.

Encendyo

The picture isnt designed to be too specific so it can be either Lif or one of her "kin"

Snus

Tupperwarez, the lithoscanner probably uses NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) to do it's job, but it would have to be ridiculously sensitve to do it with a handheld tool. Someone walking by at the wrong time could interfere with the reading, so Flow could be anything that causes a disturbance, and we know from the movement it can induce that it does indeed cause a disturbance. On another note, is that Lif in the background, or one of her nursery-kin?

Encendyo

You don't know how and why it interferes.

Snus

Actually, seeing all this offworld tech got me wondering. How does Harald communicate with Lif? If the Bluetooth pun applies, then maybe some kind of radio signal? And we know that Flow interferes with the lithoscanner, and that probably uses a radio/EM ping for scanning, right? So what if Lif is actually much closer than Erf thinks, because the communication signal is being dampened by all the magic trees and creatures of the Forest? Although, Lif could counter that by growing a tall enough antenna, assuming she's independent enough to take the initiative.

"Greetings, genetically divergent relatives! Please partake of our finest flesh melons!" *Irje starts drooling* "No babe, not those melons." "Tch. Killjoy."

Tupperwarez

Well naming them would require a name and i am lazy. and ambiguity is fun

Snus

Thought this was a brand new faction from Tana based on the title, not the living tree-ship navigator people. Hence the confusion

AZ

I wanted it to be...other..different. Something not expected. And i also wanted to make it appear how an average wermage might see them if they decide to visit in earnest. These are the people of the space. While they share ancestry they aren't exactly "close" and they aren't space paladins either. This is a faction that grew up in the catacombs of a barren planet in the meagre light of a red dwarf.

Snus

“This is the future that Erf wants, and it’s disgusting” On a serious note, the living tech is a ton more menacing in visuals than I thougt, (I was expecting more happy-go-lucky Elven tree hugger, less warframe) but I still love it in the end.

??????

Space is harsh as is already, these suits are specifically designed to be space-walkable

Snus

Hehe, well they wouldn't be secret weapons if they weren't secret. Looking forward to Combat Gardener Erf in the (near?) future! Hang on a tic. Exosuit for harsh environments... Heavy duty tools repurposed into weapons... Multi-limbed horrors trying to kill you... Is the Forest excursion going to turn into Dead Space? XD

Tupperwarez

Exosuit is part of the operator. Erf doesn't see his as something separate from skin. A few of the details here are mostly done for the future so distinct info is unavailable atm :V

Snus

Nice! Now that they're colored in, the style looks more like Warframe than Guyver. This pic also ignites all sorts of questions in my brain! Are these folks part of one team, or just examples of various exosuit configurations, and how extreme they can get? The one on the left seems to be holding a lithoscanner and a treeship pruning tool? I like the idea of them looking like a futuristic space warrior, but they're actually a maintenance tech XD I guess they got around the insectoid bioweapon ban because technically an exosuit requires an operator?

Tupperwarez

Looks awesome Looks like a mix of warframe & Scorn.
