They figured out that when the helm was in the water, the portal strengthened for Torm. Giddeon came down to fight the demons, and to shut the demonic portal down, stood on the poor helpless rogue w/ the helm on his head. With the portal glowing blue, the brave blood hunter said a prayer to Torm and jumped in - in his vision his dead brother wanted him to come play, but when he couldn't said he understood and gave him a lucky rabbit for good luck (and a temporary boon from Torm). He went back thinking that maybe with the boon he could pull the helmet off, so he did! He then rolled a 18 to run and leap up and slam the helm onto Giddeon's head (20) so now Giddeon is screaming and falls prone trying to remove the helm. The party then grabs him and shoves him into the portal, helm first. The helm going into the portal sends radiant sparks flying damaging many in the room, it then servers the portal, and Giddeon's head. Now they have to scramble and got railroaded into climbing the chains down to Avernus.
