Progress Update: Adventures!

G'monday, all you helpful humans! I hope your week is off to a roaring start.

As I'm still in the middle of writing a short story, this should be a pretty sparse update. Still, there are some interesting tidbits here and there that I think you'll be glad to hear about.

Where are we now?

After spending a while drafting up a suuuuper intense outline for this short story, I'm finally on to the actual writing process. Naturally this is just the rough draft I'm hammering out and the thing will be rescued in revision. The vignette I'm about to share likely won't make it to the end, but check it! Progress:

Quiet, but a sound. Absence, reprisal.

Hungry mouths and vanished twins. Mothers weep at the appetite. 

Two, three, a dozen, the clan.

A plague of lonesome gluttons, plucked from the womb and planted in the earth. Walls to keep the silence in.

Time. The mothers whisper.

Small forms, hidden in the dark bowl of the tree.

Inquest. The blood of babes.

Wombs volunteer their vacancy. Feet too few to fill the lanes; too few the hands for harvest.

The decay is slow.

Passage, egress, soft cooing to keep the tears at bay.

Three figures in the night.

A secret. A vow.

Quiet.

Mind you, that's only a tiny piece of the story. The whole thing is written in third-person past tense with these weird, poetic, jilting present tense affairs interspersed throughout. I don't know if that formatting'll survive the process, but trying things is good.

You should all also know that Felipe's back from his break! You know what that means? More taleoid adoptions! Expect them to begin rolling out again very soon! We're very excited to meet the parade of new Talebabbies~

Finally, we're also looking forward to doing more work with the new artist who helped create our gorgeous bookmark design, Chris. He'll be doing work with us on some of our branding, which is something we've been looking for for a loooong time.

What's next?

Ohhh nothing much. We're just going to Vidcon London with Suibhne, AltShiftX and a bunch of other awesome Youtubers, that's all.

Obviously, we're ecstatic.

This is a very fresh decision, mind you. Plans have yet to be made, destinations yet to be laid. We know for certain we're going to take the opportunity to spend some time with our good friends at World Anvil, though! It should be an amazing time.

Not the busiest week really, but we (almost always) have exciting stuff on the horizon! 

Now, back to writing for me. Looking forward to finishing this thing and wrapping up our Worldbuilding series at long last!
