Daily Update: Day Care

Working from home is weird.

From a distance, it really just looks like a lot of cleverness and dedication. Until you try it for yourself, you never really begin to grasp just how much of that time is just spent grabbing your inner child by the suspenders, plopping them back in their high chair, and forcing them to eat their vegetables.

It's a chronic thing. If you're easily distracted (like I am) or if you have a long history of habitual procrastination (like I do), then the best you can really do is notice the symptoms of the condition being you and address them with a care plan. Today, after a long period of chasing my inner child all over the house while they tore the pages out of my planner, I've begun to develop something of the sort.

Basically, instead of trying to follow a fixed schedule (which isn't going to be possible for a long, long time because of our circumstances), I've decided to treat work like exercise. If I'm working 8-12 hours a day every day, I need to make sure those hours are good, quality hours, not spent sifting through MTG spoilers on mythicspoiler.com every time I accomplish the most minute task. To this end, I am now beginning to work 1.5 hours on, 10 minutes off. Over and over. Throughout the day. I can take slightly longer breaks for meals, of course, but the object is that if I know there's a window of free time coming up, I'll work harder instead of twiddling my thumbs, waiting. In a weird way, it seems to incentivize me. What the psychological/physiological reward is that allows this to be the case, I know not. I am beholden to the properties of my shell.

All in all, a good day. I felt productive. Most everything I can do while waiting on the audio from Chloe and the visuals from Felipe, I have done. I'll be gathering the pieces of a soundtrack for most of tomorrow, hopefully adding the audio to the timeline when Chloe finishes it later in the day.

We're drawing near. I am... very excited to share this one with you guys. It's been received quite well so far...

For now, much love and pleasant sleeps to you. Or wakes, depending.
