So I may not have said it in so many words, but I've been feeling pretty down about our output rate for a while now. It feels like it's been forever since we last put a video out, and the last six or so videos didn't catch on too well. I'm a pretty optimistic person, but when you're pouring 50-80 hours a week into something and seeing rare product and no results, it starts to wear on you. I've started to wonder whether we were in a permanent rut...
Buuuut the result of yesterday's upload has changed that completely. Youtube is weird about refresh rates, so it's hard to know our actual numbers within the first 24 hours, but it looks like the video's already accumulated around 11,000 views and 1,320 likes, and 115 comments. That's... really fast. Ridiculous, given our recent rates. To give you a frame of reference, the last episode we put out (more than two months ago) only has 12,546 views, 967 likes, and 117 comments. On top of that, we've welcomed over 90 new members to our discord server and 3 new patrons.
This is exactly what I needed. I can feel my lethargy fading and I'm suddenly full of all the energy and vigor of a creator with a new idea. It's like I was anemic and the community's response to the new video is new blood in my veins.
I'm looking forward to where this goes. It could mean a lot for the Foundry over the next month or so. Things might change, but in a good way.
Thanks for everything. It's a lot of hard work and it's a slow burn, but I couldn't ask for a more perfect career. You guys make it possible.
Meanwhile, Chloe's got some interesting stuff going on in her life and is taking on some new work at the Foundry, so her next update should be pretty interesting.
