Hey Allies, I remember back in the day of printed game magazines, one of them, can't recall if it was Game pro, EGM, or a different outlet, they would have a article every month of games they reviewed back in the day and what the game would probably score now. I was wondering, of all the games you have reviewed, are there any you would give a different rating now? Like would you score some higher now or lower now? And if so do you have any examples? Love and respect, Chris Eyerly

LETS PLAY A GAME! - If your not first, your last Geoff Keighley With the game awards feeling already so long ago, i thought it be worth putting a famous theory said by Ricky Bobby's dad one time while he was high to the test. If your not first, your last. The game is simple. I will give you a game of the year winner and you need to guess the runner up nominations for that year. 1 Point for every game guessed correctly to the player. But ALSO. Little Baby Jesus has blessed each year with a bonus point game which unfortunately has been deemed the more forgetful runner up nomination, resulting in 2 points for a correct answer. This game is the little baby Jesus bonus point game. Player with the most points after 8 rounds wins. Hey Allies, Several months ago I sent in a question regarding the development time of Bethesda Game Studios titles, specifically regarding the likelihood of a 15 year wait before the next mainline Fallout game. I find myself thinking back on this when reading the somewhat negative previews for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. I'm cautiously optimistic for the game, not that it will be of high quality but that I will have a decent time playing the game. However, all signs currently point towards this being a historic low in critical performance for Rocksteady. Even if Suicide Squad is Swimmin', the problem with this outcome is not that Suicide Squad exists, but the opportunity cost of what could have been. A Batman Beyond Arkham Game for instance that was rumoured to be from WB Montreal several years ago. Any number of games exploring other DC characters, like a Harley Quinn or Deathstroke Character Action Game, or something entirely new from Rocksteady, to carve their own IP. In this era of videogames, where AAA development times and budgets are astronomical, and you need to be a must play game to even consider yourself a major success, is there room for developers and publishers like WB to take risks and experiment like this? I'll still quietly hope that Rocksteady is about to do to Games as a Service what Arkham Asylum did to the Superhero genre, but man do I wish I was about to step into Damian Wayne's shoes on February 2nd rather than whatever this is. (Repost) Hello allies. You probably will not talk about this in your GotY discussions, so let me ask it here: what is your Most Disappointing 2023 game? If you’re interested, mine is Baldur's Gate 3. I really loved Divinity: Original Sin II for being able to fully roleplay as my character, but when I’ve tried to do the same in Baldur's Gate 3 I’ve ended up with broken questlines, story events playing out-of-sequence and mandatory boss battles that could not be beaten without reloading save after each failed dice roll. Coupled with inconsistent VO and 2-3 crashes per hour, Baldur's Gate 3 created a strong impression of a game that was released way before it was ready to. This wasn’t the only rushed release of 2023, but since I could still see a potential for a good game in this mess, it was easily the most disappointing.

Hey everyone I've been looking forward to Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. It's my most anticipated game this year. With nearly 100 hundred hours in each of the more modern releases like Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1 & 2, 6, Ishin, and both Judgement games. Oh and nearly 200 hours in Yakuza Like a Dragon. Yakuza is one of my favorite series of all time, and I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't stumbled upon a GT time podcast episode about tomb raider back in 2015. I have listened to the podcast ever since and have been a patron since day one. I didn't know about the Yakuza series until I around the time Yakuza 0 was releasing in the west. Huber and Ben kept talking about how good this series was and how 0 was the perfect starting point for new players. I ended up buying Yakuza 0 on day one and played it for about 5 minutes. I didn't want to miss any little joke or reference that only people who played the series before would understand. So I purchased my very first ps2 and an $80 copy of Yakuza from amazon. I liked the game so I spent $120 dollars on a copy Yakuza 2. During my play through of Yakuza 2 sega reprinted the first four Yakuza games for $40-$50. I then bought my first ps3, and copies of Yakuza 3-5. I only played the main story and whatever sub stories I came across in Yakuza 1-5, but I went all in for the rest with 0 being my favorite. I'm glad I played the series in order of release because I was right about the little jokes and references. I just wish my timing wasn't so bad when I decided to purchase the games. Have any of you had bad timing when making a game related purchase? If so, I share the pain. Love & Respect

Hi Allies! This week is (for some reason) Steam's Capitalism and Economy Fest. In the spirit of whatever that means, what are your favorite in-game economies? Currently playing through Lost Judgment and I'm really loving the various shops and commodities of Yokohama! L&R Nick Sossi

Hello everyone! Could the Roguelite genre be the single-player answer to the live-service problem? Over the past year, I've heard and read a lot of conversation how, with some live-service games not meeting expectations, the games themselves would discontinue with the servers going offline and a percentage of the developer would be laid off. Even Naughty Dog had to cancel their Last of Us Online game because it would completely transform the studio to focus exclusively on the project, plus the development had its fair share of troubles. On the opposite side of things, Roguelites have been gaining more popularity, culminating with the mass appeal and reception of Supergiant's Hades. Fast forward a few years later, and Sony Santa Monica just put out the incredible Valhalla for God of War: Ragnarok, and the aforementioned Naughty Dog is about to launch The Last of Us Part II Remastered with its own roguelite: No Return. Live service lives and dies by providing continuous engaging content to keep the player base coming back and keep playing, whereas Roguelites require replaying content with permanent improvements after each run and the promise of additional rewards like gear, abilities, and in God of War's case, meaningful story. I *KNOW* this question is a bit of a stretch, but do you believe single player Roguelites could be an opportunity for developers to keep players engaged with their games instead of having microtransaction-heavy Games-as-a-Service gambles that don't payoff more often than not? Personally my perception is when hear about live service games, it's a story of disappointment and/or failure, but roguelites are the topic, its mostly in a positive light. What do you think? Thanks for reading this submission if you do and stay Easy fellow Allies!

What do you think is an example of a bad or mediocre game that should be remade, to give the basic ideas and concepts behind it a second chance?

LET’S PLAY A GAME - Gonna take you for a Ride! We all know that Super Nintendo Land has been opening up at various theme parks around the world, but do you know about the other rides around the world that have been based on video games? Below is a list of 10 rides based on video games - are they real? Uncharted: The Enigma of Penitence Real! Currently operating at Portaventura in Tarragona, Spain. It is a rollercoaster mixed with a dark ride (think Pirates of the Caribbean or Haunted Mansion) with lots of special effects and the first lateral drop in Europe! It opened June 16th 2023. Sonic Spinball Real! Sadly no longer operating, at least as a Sonic ride, this was a temporary retheme of a spinning roller coaster at Alton Towers (UK) called Spinball Whizzer. The ride was “rethemed” for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which consisted of putting stickers over the existing theming and having Sonic do the safety announcement. Fortunately the rollercoaster is great, and I’ve been on it. In fact when it originally opened I said to my older brother “they should retheme this to Sonic Spinball” and he said it was the dumbest thing he’d ever heard. Call of Duty: Raid Fake. Tomb Raider: The Ride Real! There are in fact 4 Tomb Raider: The Rides. Tomb Raider: The Ride, a flying roller coaster located at Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario Tomb Raider: The Ride a top spin formerly located at Kings Island in Mason, Ohio Tomb Raider: FireFall, another top spin formerly located at Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia Tomb Raider: The Machine, a third top spin located at Movieland in Verona, Italy Crash Bandicoot: TNT! Fake, but if it were real, obviously a teacup ride. Angry Birds: Detonator Bombs Away! Real! Another rethemed UK ride, this time at Thorpe Park (which is also host to The Walking Dead and Black Mirror Rides) this is a propelled drop tower, as in you are pushed down by force, as if you are the plunger on a detonator for a box of TNT. This was actually part of Angry Birds land, which also included a 4d cinema experience and, of course, angry birds dodgems. I have been, it was terrible. The Last of Us: Lockdown Fake. Pac-Man Land Real! Opened in 1983 at Six Flags over Texas during the height of Pacmania, it was replaced in 1985 after the demise of Pacmania, and replaced with Looney Tunes. But some say the area is still haunted by 4 ghosts… Mass Effect: New Earth Real! This is a “theatrical motion simulator” ride at California's Great America in Santa Clara, California (think Star Tours but… worse). It was opened in 2016 and coincides with the plot of Mass Effect 3, by offering riders no choice in the outcome of the ride. The Last of Us: Lockdown: Remastered Fake, but somehow more plausible that just The Last of Us: Lockdown

Do you think this year there will be an Xbox shadow drop game? Will it be a recurring thing now for them? Once per year kinda of thing and if it does happen when will they drop it?
