Hey Allies, The original Counter-Strike turned 23 years old today, and still commands a daily concurrent player count of over 12,000 players. What multiplayer games would you love to have online play for on modern consoles so you could continue to experience them, and what games do you think would achieve the same feat as Counter-Strike has? Love and Respect, Harrison

2023-11-01 22:18:37 +0000 UTCSalutations. If you were a video game character, what power-up would be your Tanuki leaf equivalent? What would fall out of you when you take damage similarly to Sonic loosing rings? What liquid consumable would give you a temporary buff? Lastly, what would be your invincibility item equivalent to a Starmen? Stay Easy fellow homies.

2023-11-01 22:07:12 +0000 UTCDo you think we'll ever see "artisanal video games" advertised as having no AI-generated assets or photogrammetry/motion capture? Could there be a market for rustic handcrafted textures, models and animations done the old fashioned way? Will authentic voice acting be like practical effects in movies, something only enthusiasts notice or care about?

2023-11-01 17:04:04 +0000 UTCHello Allies, I hope everyone had a happy Halloween. I’m back with Choose a Door. In this game, you will be presented with a game behind door 1 and the panel has to either take that game or blindly take what’s behind door 2. Like before, each game is either unannounced or very far off. The chosen game will be shadow dropped today among the cataclysmic wave of content and the unchosen game will be lost forever. 2023-11-01 16:01:51 +0000 UTCHi Allies, Are gamers too entitled? I have no idea if what I'm about to say is the popular or unpopular opinion or not so I would love for the Allies to weigh in. If you buy a game in Early Access, when that game leaves Early Access I don't believe you are owed anything extra by the devs. Disney Dreamlight Valley is leaving Early Access in December alongside the release of their first paid expansion for the game and the gamers are PISSED, that those who have been playing the game in early access for a year are not receiving the expansion free of charge. The subreddit went into a meltdown over it but I couldn't help but think nothing was wrong with that. You make a choice to buy a game in early access, it's not the devs paying you to play their game early. Not to mention early access players are receiving some in game rewards like cosmetics and currency but apparently that wasn't enough for some. Am I out of touch? Are gamers being too entitled or should there be better rewards for participating in early access? L&R from Australia. PS - you should totally do a meet and greet in Australia one day...

2023-11-01 08:47:56 +0000 UTCHi Allies!! I’ve always been amazed at how good certain foods in games look. From the burger in Re2 remake to anything Ignis makes in FFXV, something in these pixels have my tongue watering. I especially love the sounds when certain cuisines are being “made” like in RE Village with the Duke. Is there a food from any game that stands out as seeming particularly tasty, plus why do you think that is? Thanks for the awesome content, been a fan for a while. L&R, Noel

2023-11-01 00:21:28 +0000 UTC[Game submission] Good Day Allies Got a simple game for you guys, can you name the critically acclaimed game based on these negative steam reviews? I’ve picked 3 steam reviews per game. Each review SHOULD make it easier to guess the game, with the 3rd review almost giving the game away. Number of games you want to do and scoring is completely up to Bloodworth, you can choose to make it competitive or not. Recommended scoring 5 point for guessing the game after 1 steam review 2 Points for guessing correctly after 2 steam reviews 1 Point for guessing the game after that and also 1 bonus point for who guesses closest to the PC Metacritic score. Good luck. Love and Respect Robert Lee Game 1 Review 1: “I had a 95% chance to hit the recommend button but missed.” Review 2: “Even when I have 80% chance to hit the target I miss more often than hit. Rigged” Review 3 “...I'm done. While I was looking forward to the sequel this game apparently is designed to break you before you even get out of the tutorial stage. It was clearly designed for those who have played Enemy Unknown on Classic and have their game down to a science. It is VERY newcomer unfriendly.” PC Gamer 94/100 “Exceptionally tough, rewarding strategy and a masterful reworking of the [BLANK] formula. Well play this forever. Answer: X-Com 2 (Meta Score 88) Game 2 Review 1: “...am in minority here and I know it. I'm a huge cRPG fan and this is pretty much only cRPG that I did not like at ALL. The armor and magic armor system is so bad imo, there are barely any RPG options when it comes to building characters AND the story seemed flat to me.” Review 2: “Just incredibly confusing if you don't have experience with these types of games. I looked up a guide after about 4 hours of fumbling around so that I could progress and justify my purchase but then the game went from a limitless sandbox with too much freedom to find any sort of direction, to a recipe book in which the joy of discovery was set aside just to feel any semblance of progress.” Review 3: “This game is honestly just annoying to play. In theory, it's a great game. Great visuals, solid story telling, stellar voice acting, well thought out rules and mechanics, strategy, etc. 30 hours and I've never continued to play after getting to, and even after leaving Fort Joy. This game frustrates or inconveniences me out of any desire to play it.” Easy Allies Review: 9.5 “[Blank] is an incredibly rich RPG that not only builds a world filled with choice, but makes you care deeply about those decisions.” Answer: Divinity Original Sin 2 (Meta Score 95) Game 3 Review 1: “This game is not for all tastes. It came highly recommended, and is well-made, but I'm not really its audience. You see, I love CRPGs and adventure games. What I do NOT love is slogging through pages upon page upon pages of text. Absorbing volumes of context and history with nothing going on-screen is not my idea of fun. It's boring. Yes, story is important to a good game, but I tuned out after an hour in and reading endless dialogue trees. It was more work than fun. If I want to read a novel, I'll read a novel.” Review 2: “It's just a game based on dice rolls and fail checks. Pass a check something appears or good happens. Fail a check. Oops guess that option is gone to bad for you. Have fun running around trying to figure out how to get around it. If there is even a way to get around it. You have to pass certain checks in order to progress. This is a problem. The dice numbers for fail and pass are weird and half the time don't make much sense” Review 3 “......Progress in this game is almost 100% via dialogue. Most of this dialogue, especially in the beginning, is world building. Tedious information about social, economic and political structures of Revachol. I now know more about Revachol than I do about my hometown. The rest of the dialogue occurs within your mind. This was much more enjoyable. This was where the character building and role-playing takes place, and the options are very entertaining..... I cannot recommend this game to the average gamer. I repeat, this game is VERY niche. Personally, I would get more satisfaction from reading a good book..” (No Easy Allies Review?) PC Gamer 92/100 “An irresponsibly deep detective RPG that lets you be any kind of detective you want. Even a bad one” Answer: Disco Elysium (Meta Score 97) Game 4 Review 1: ““[Blank] isn't the best game ever made it suffers from pacing issues, intentional level design focus on puzzling, and lack of multiple pathways to complete a mission (it's linear after-all)” Review 2: “All I can say is that this game is not for everyone. I jumped in expecting a great game mostly due to the hundreds of game reviewers saying it was the greatest game of all time. I was highly disappointed, boring gunplay that becomes highly repetitive, pretty bland story, annoying enemies, and just a boring atmosphere. The physics engine is highly outdated and it makes many sequences incredibly frustrating. This game may have been something great but years later it really isnt that special anymore.” Review 3: “no 3 yet. im suing [developer] for false advertising” PC Gamer 96/100 “This is the one unmissable game. Its time to get that cutting-edge PC system. Sell your grandmother, remortgage the cat, do whatever you have to do. Just dont miss out.” Answer: Half Life 2 (Meta Score 96) Game 5 Review 1: “Developers lied about exploration too. Remember when they said "If you see it, you can go there"? Well... You can't. "No invisible walls" ring a bell? False too. Whilst they're not invisible walls, if you stray too far from the enclosed map, you get a warning that you've "reach the world's end" and must "turn back". If you fail to turn back, the map opens up and you must fast travel somewhere.” Review 2: “This game made me realize you don't have to like every critically acclaimed game. It's undeniable that it's very well made, I just didn't find it fun. This game is story first and game second, and clunky combat was definitely an after thought in the development process. You may like it, but just know what you're getting into before purchasing.” Review 3 “...I find it boring. Once you realise that every mission is rinse and repeat the same thing, it just feels like a drag. "Go fetch this item" or "Go kill this person/monster". The story reasons behind it always feel shallow, a cheap justification to keep the player going. You never feel invested in the reasons. Every mission is exactly the same mission, with different skin. It's basically grand theft auto with medieval skin. If you've played enough games like that, this just feels as extremely repetitive..... Any scene with dandelion is so cringe and idiotic that it completely broke immersion from what little story build up there was” Gametrailers 9.8 “[Blank] is a thoughtful, diverse, and frequently awe-inspiring adventure. Its stories are deep and satisfying, unafraid to touch on themes of personal character, presenting players with choices and consequences that aren’t about turning into a hero or a villain. In the end, it’s quite simply one of the best RPGs ever made.” Answer: The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt (Meta Score 93) Game 6 Review 1: “Reasons you may love / hate this game: Bullet hell gameplay, Bone puns and fart jokes, 16-bit art style and chiptune soundtrack 6 hours of gameplay” Review 2: “....the humor of the game relies too much on meme-like humor. This already completely dates the game as memes come and go fairly quickly on the internet. In 5-10 years the humor will most likely be pretty unenjoyable because it relies too much on current-day meme humor/culture to be funny instead of... actually being funny. So many people praised it for its comedy, but I generally found myself getting annoyed at all the "jokes". I haven't really seen many smart jokes that were actually genuinely funny and the ones I did see were too few and far between.” Review 3: “flowery is a very rude person only play game if you have no soul otherwise your soul will be pain” PC Gamer 91/100 “A hilarious JRPG romp with far more than laughs on its side” Answer: Undertale (Meta Score 93) Game 7 Review 1: “I hate this game with every fiber in my body. It is the most directionless, pointless, and ridiculously hard games i have ever played. I start off fighting opponents who i cannot compete with and the game will not even show me how to get better. I am just supposed to know what to do. Never in my life have I ever taken over 50 tries to defeat someone in a game. And a cpu at that. It is ridiculous how dumb this game is.” Review 2 “it will constantly stutter in open areas, from which the game will have many, since as the trailers show, you will even be able to ride on this big worldmap. Especially when a Boss makes a special move. Since [Blank] is a game where you have to dodge/react to the opponents attacks in under a second, this makes Bossfights frustrating beyond believe and honestly kinda unplayable at least in my eyes. I dont mind having to try a boss over and over because I make a mistake, but constantly dying, because the game freezes for 1 second so I couldnt see which type of attack the boss is throwing at me is not the kind of challenge i am looking forward to.” Review 3 “........Honestly, my first 40 or so hours with this game were gorgeous. I loved riding around the open world on the horse just faffing about and seeing the sights, doing a small dungeon every now and then, and throwing myself at the first few main story bosses. Then as time went on things started to feel off. Bosses get copy pasted around, enemies get reused as mini dungeon bosses, mini dungeon bosses become "normal" enemies, and the further you get the more annoying the encounters become. Then it all culminates in Castle Sol, at which point my honeymoon phase with this game just crashed and burned, and I started to see this game for what it really is: A wonderful massive open world, filled with filler and copy pasted, with too few enemy types and bosses to populate even half the areas, and encounter designs..........” Easy Allies 9.5 “[blank] is both a refinement and evolution of the Dark Souls formula, presenting an expansive world that's as hostile as it is inviting. Despite the occasional excess, suffering has never been as much fun as this” Answer: Elden Ring (Meta Score 94) Game 8 Review 1: “trash game can't pass level 1 i got 200 iq btw but partner has only has 3.5 iq and [developer] can't count to 3” Review 2 “I feel like I'm the only person in the world that doesn't really care for this game. It just went on and on and on. The original was great because it was to the point, you vs the game. [blank] forces you to complete the same 4 puzzles over and over just to get a sassy piece of dialog. If this game was three dollars I would recommend it but otherwise I cannot.” Review 3 “What's the deal with this game? I can't beleive the story was devoid of any humour or humurous characters. The level design was garbage, and the fact that it all took place outside was bizarre, plus the ironsights on the [weapon] were totally broken. No idea why they gave it a sequel, the open world was horrible. 0/10 the only good part was how satisfying it was to get the cake at the end” Game trailer review 9.0 “Just like its predecessor, this sequel manages to wring every last ounce of enjoyment out of seemingly simple core concepts. If you're strictly into action its slow, plodding, calculated pace will be a turnoff. Yet, somehow [developer] has managed to make a puzzle game that will make your pulse rise with a never ending daisy chain of positive reinforcement.” Answer: Portal 2 (Meta score 95) Game 9 Review 1 “As the critics said, this is the ultimate [blank] simulator. You will be surrounded by wealth and finery, the most expensive environmental design the modern AAA asset pipeline can produce. But you will be so utterly bored that you will walk into the winter chill and pick fights with addicts and pushers in the hope that by getting punched in the face you can finally feel something, anything, ever again.” Review 2 “Sadly, the sequel ditched the focused linearity for boring open world collect-a-thons. It's a bigger, less interesting world compared to the Metroidvania grounds of [Previous Game]. New combat mechanisms are gimmicky and make everything feel worse than its previous iteration.” Review 3 “If you've played [Previous game], there isn't much reason to play this. It's very same old same old in this second outing.. It does really make you feel like you're [blank] in grappling around the city. (but after a few hours that gets tiring too, especially with all the repetitive side missions that seem to be designed simply to take you from one side of the city to the other again to prove it's all there.) Also, storywise, neither of these games have much going on and that's why it gets old fast if you're coming into this game after having played the first one.” Gametrailers 9.3 “[blank] feels like a logical extension of its predecessor, wholly embracing and expanding upon all the elements that made it great. It most certainly is the definitive [blank] game, but to leave it there would be to damn it with faint praise. Simply put, if you admire painstakingly-realized worlds rich with secrets and game mechanics that never cease to surprise you, then you it to yourself to experience [blank]. Your interest in the source material is irrelevant.” Answer: Batman: Arkham City (Meta score 91) Game 10 Review 1 “The Good: [blank] Story Mode The Bad: [blank] Online The Ugly: [developer] Games Launcher” Review 2 “Game is really good however [developer] abandoned online because unlike in [Developer’s previous game] online in this game doesnt have flying motorcycles and alien blaster that 7 year olds will spend money with their mothers credit card.” Review 3 “.... the game just isn't all that fun. [Developer] has tried to take their wanna-be bad boy "criminals are cool cuz they're badass" storylines from [Developer’s previous game] to the American West, and it just doesn't work. We're left with cowboys primping their hair, lawmen who will shoot you for standing on the porch, and various other ridiculousness best left in the fantasy world of 30-yr-old computer programmers who never could quite leave their mom's basement.” Easy Allies 10/10 “[blank] tests the boundaries of interactive immersion. Few games look this good, play this well, and have this much to offer. It begs you to slow down, turn every page of its dramatic tale, and savor every last breathtaking detail. It challenges you to be prepared for anything, and make the right decisions when your choices matter most. [Protagonist] is the lead, but the world takes center stage to pull you in. With a list of challenges left to finish and an online mode launching soon, we plan to spend a lot more time in [Developer’s] unparalleled recreation of the old west.!” Answer: Red Dead Redemption 2 (Meta score 93)

2023-10-31 19:14:43 +0000 UTCHey Allies, How is your PS5's holding up? I got spider man 2 on launch day and I encountered the same issue with my system "overheating" like I did with FF 16 which I mentioned on a previous sort it out of mine for frametrap earlier this year. My system was shutting off so frequently it was ridiculous, at one point I was just on the title screen to start Spiderman 2 and it shut off because it said it was getting too hot. Now I have been doing research into this over the past couple months and a recent debunked rumor was that the liquid metal used internally for cooling could leak if the system was stood vertically. However a lot of tech videos and websites I've read have said that while it may not be a liquid metal leaking issue, try putting your PS5 horizontal and that should fix your overheating problems and so far the last few days I've been playing I've had only 1 warning about it getting too hot or it shutting itself off. Not sure why that's been working since my PlayStation is still pretty clean and well maintained and in an open well ventilated area but so far it's much better. Still doesn't mean I don't hear the fan doing some work to keep it cool (still quieter than my launch PS4) but it's not technically overheating as frequent. Have you guys experienced any of this before? Does your PS5 get loud running some of these games? And have you guys been hearing anything like this more recently about overheating PS5's in your channels of communication or online discourse? I'm worried being in the about midlife cycle of next gen and games getting more advanced this issue may continue to grow. It seems like since FF16 I'm seeing more and more complaints about this issue online....
