If I base myself on what we have already seen in Dragon Ball, Kakarotto is often at Bulma's side and, however, she's not the mother of his children. The logic would have been to think that Seripa could be Vegeta's mother. After all, Seripa and Vegeta have the same sadistic gaze. So yes, the idea of Seripa mother of Kakarotto is interesting (before discovering the TV Special), but that of Seripa mother of Vegeta is just as interesting (still before discovering the TV Special). Of course the idea that Seripa is Videl's mother is stupid. It's a theory I've seen in magazines and on the internet. Me, I just said that Videl is reminiscent of Seripa. She should have, but she does not have to be in the same way Gine was not actually teased. No, they would not if they are Dragon Ball fans and see the tail? So no your example does not work well because it is not a comparison of a similar level. You are essentially comparing an example with oranges and one with apples. Thinking Seripa/Fasha was Goku's mom because of her design makes a million times more sense than thinking she is Videl's mom. Videl has no traits of Seripa/Fasha she would have had if she were her daughter (like the tail).

This scene is meant to show that Bardock's companions are teasing and gently mocking him for having just had a son (A kind of hazing). Toma starts, then comes Seripa's turn and Pumpkin's laughs. If Kakarotto was Seripa's son, she too should have been teased in this scene. People would think that Seripa is Videl's mother for her physical resemblance. Since children do not think, for them it is: "Oh she looks like Videl? It must be her mother." The proof : In France and other countries, many believe that Telluce is Kakarotto's brother because he looks like him. It's wrong. Telluce is just a lower category Saiyan. My example works quite well.

Why would people think she's Videls mother when she is a Saiyan and not a human when Videl is a human? Your example does not work here. No, it does not mean that was the case, I said it is not some far fetched idea to get in your head...

Well, reading the manga version of the TV Special, there was proof in there that Seripa wasn't Kakarotto's mother. She herself tells Bardock to go see his son. If it was hers, she would have said "our son". So, I never understood her fan theories that they liked to think she was Kakarotto's mother... Everything is explained in the TV Special and the anime comics. I often say that Seripa looks like Videl. I guess at the time, people must have thought that she could have been Videl's mother. 😅 In short, a female Saiyan who hangs out with Bardock doesn't mean that she was the mother of his children. Seripa could have been Vegeta's mother too.

I had not seen the movies, I read the manga versions of them way before I saw the movies. That's why I thought she was Goku's mom as I do not recall any female saiyan other than her even being mentioned. That I have never heard off, but rumors about things like Dragon Ball are not big in my country to begin with.

I read this rumor in french magazines when the TV Special was already available. I even remember that when the 12th Dragon Ball Z movie was released, France had launched a rumor that Kakarotto's transformation into Super Saiyan 3 was called "Crystal Warrior".

I did not see the TV special either, there was a tankabon/volume about the special (just like with the movies) in my country and I read all of them and no female beyond Seripa/Fasha was mentioned, nor was it said she was not his mom iirc. So people coming to the conclusion seems fair enough imo.
