As you know R.E.M is heavily inspired by Klimt painting, as someone who has an art history degree I really wanted to combine my love for art history with storytelling. There is a moment in which Jasper is exposed for his crimes against Lili and he would face punishment. Those who will bring punishment are the Erinyes, Goddesses who hold humans to account for the short comings of their crime. large goddesses who tower over Jasper refusing to listen to his excuses. I really love this piece, though lost in history it has many symbolisms and context I want to put in my own work especially for Jasper's own journey to his failed redemption
Painting: Jurisprudence
a suffering naked man surrounded by eyes, eerily captures. the relationship between 'sovereignty and bare life' that Agamben argues was. re-forged and refined across the 20th century. Klimt's image might perhaps be. regarded as the very first, and perhaps still the most comprehensive, representation.
