During fishing trips Jasper would have a hard time eating the fish he caught so instead he would set them free. Jasper’s mother Jessie is a roadie and travels with famous bands during their seasonal tours. As much as she loves her family she can’t really let go of the rush being on tour. The money helps the family but they would be fine if she would just stayed home as well. The simple life is their life. Their father Carl has trouble supporting his wife dream but does so to ultimately keep the family together even if at times he feels they’re falling apart. They love each other and the spark is always there, but spark isn’t enough to keep a family together. Cole doesn’t like Jessie primarily because he believes his father deserves better. However, in the marriage they had Jasper and in many ways he loves him as a brother can but moments when he see Jasper being overjoyed to see and hear from his mother he grows bitter. Cole just wants his mother back and feels life is unfair. There’s times which Cole can be very harsh to Jasper especially about his mother. Something that doesn’t quite go away when they’re older.
