Come see us - and some kitties - at PRGE!

Hi everyone! As is tradition, the Video Game History Foundation will be presenting the annual main museum exhibit at Portland Retro Gaming Expo this weekend, in partnership with the Interactive Art Collection.

The theme this year is the Atari Jaguar, a console with a very brief commercial life that was, miraculously, kept alive by its fans.

We'll have six kiosks with highlights from the system's library, powered by our own Rich Whitehouse's emulator, BigPEmu (which, by the way, is on Patreon!). You'll be just as excited as this definitely-not-staged child in a promotional photo from our own archives!

We'll have all kinds of Jaguar stuff on exhibit, including a pretty exhaustive collection of games courtesy of John Hancock and Hans Reutter. We'll also be debuting, for the first time ever outside of your dentist's office, a fully-functioning HotRod unit!

This is my favorite oddball from the Jaguar's history. After Atari went out of business, a medical imaging company bought the injection mold for the system's shell to use for a dental camera. The result, as you can see above, is a device that looks exactly like a white Jaguar!

The unpowered unit has made multiple appearances at classic shows, but our museum will actually have a functional unit! If you ask nice, we might even print a photo of your teeth!

The unit was restored by Jesse Perez, seen here visiting our library just yesterday. Thanks Jesse!

I'm also excited to announce a very special exhibit - real life TINY JAGUARS!

We've partnered with a local pet rescue, the NWAC, to help out some foster kittens right on site at the museum. Saturday and Sunday from 11-3, come on by and play with kittens in two show-exclusive SNUGGLE TENTS, and donate some money to help care for them on their way to a forever home. And hey, if you're local, maybe that forever home can be yours??

And last but the total opposite of least, the Art of Nintendo Power exhibit will be returning from last year! Come see a variety of original paintings, sculptures and more used in the making of Nintendo Power magazine, and get your selfie taken with a vintage Super Mario mascot costume whose age is definitely starting to show, but he's doing his best.

We hope to see you there!!!
