Preview of VGHF's new space!

Hi everyone, Kelsey here! We're really excited to share our new space with you. We've been teasing this move since last year, but we were finally able to move in at the beginning of the month. This new space is a HUGE deal for us -- we're able to fit more of the archive in one spot, have plenty of space for researchers to work, and eventually have most of our digitization equipment set up permanently! Here's some behind-the-scenes photos of the process:

First thing's first! Getting painting supplies to make the new space look nice.

We decided on a few accent walls to make the new space look especially good in photos and for visitors!
Hey look, it's our logo colors!

We forgot to take photos until the old office was almost entirely packed up. Magazines got packed carefully, shelves were disassembled, and even Kane and Lynch were freed from their prison on the loft.

And we're out of here! Can't believe how much we'd fit into such a small space.

Back to the new space, we started getting the windows ready. Libraries really should not have windows, so we're making them not exist. There's UV blocking film on the windows, blackout curtains, and paper that will be replaced with permanently closed blinds. Three layers of light protection! (And don't worry, the ceiling lights are LED!)

Shelves built! Right now they're just holding random things, but that will be replaced with acid-free archival boxes for things like developer collections. (And probably some supplies storage)

Marking out on the floor where the furniture will go. Along the blue wall, archival drawers for thousands of press discs and PR/marketing paperwork. The other two blue rectangles will be 8 library shelves, professionally installed and drilled into the concrete for maximum stability!

The whole magazine/book/etc collection is in these boxes! There's over 120 of them.

This will be our research desk and part of the digitization lab -- still a work in progress!

Director's office! Frank works here daily, and I'll squeeze in here, too when I'm in town.

We haven't figured out where to put Bubsy yet...

Not pictured: the processing room that will eventually become the office of our next team member -- more on that later!

As always, we can't thank you enough for your incredible support of The Video Game History Foundation. We've done a ton of work this year, speaking to studios, preserving and digitizing all kinds of things from developers and game industry veterans, resurrecting lost games, and more. This space is going to make things much more efficient and open some great opportunities. We couldn't do it without you, so thank you so much for your continued support!
