Serina: Sea Mittens (Concept Art)
Added 2023-02-07 08:59:01 +0000 UTCSome of the initial sketches for the wormy mitten and its descendants drawn back in March of 2020 (the second image drawn in May). The initial idea was for them to be aquatic boras specifically (hence why the wormy mitten had only two muscular tentacles and the other four tentacles were reduced), but Sheather told me to change them into more generic mittens.
A sea mittens part 2 was planned, but the fast pace of the ocean age didn't allow me to get it done in time and it was canned. Planned species include an asymmetrical narwhal-like baleenbird, an octopus-like face-walking troll, a giant oceanic filter-feeding troll, and a baleenbird that could shoot seabirds out of the air (I think I re-used the last idea for a jetguppy).

Mittens as a group survived with scroungers and trunkos, but the sea mittens are extinct now. Hypothetically, the second part of the sea mittens group do exist, but they just haven't been drawn out; if we ever went back to fill in some of the older time periods I'd probably do the second part.
