An ancient mammalian hybrid, the Mokele-Mbembe likely originated as a pachyderm, either proboscid or rhinocerotoid, numerous atavistic mutations, giving it a long reptilian tail, scaly skin, and crocodile-like jaws filled with sharp, monodont teeth. It kaiju biology was further augmented over millennia by assimilation of floral genes, giving it extraordinarily tough bark-like armour, powerful regeneration, and photosynthetic tissues. Wherever the Mokele wanders, it releases countless symbiotic spores and seeds from its body which soon carpet the land in ancient hyperfloral greenery.
However, this is no benevolent forest god, for this vegetation it creates is designated as his hunting grounds. The lush fruit and fertile plant life are tantalizing bait for prey as this behemoth predator stalks the vast jungles of his own creation, nearly one with the flora itself, it is virtually undetectable and unmatched when hidden in the verdant interior. The Kilaaks feared this beast titan like few others, and it is speculated that they did not venture beyond North Africa in their western expansion primarily to avoid unnecessary contact with the Mokele.
