RJ Rambles about lethargy
Added 2023-12-18 15:25:14 +0000 UTCHey everybody!
I've been just generally tired lately. I think it's likely the weather. Maybe a little bit of seasonal depression going on as well.
Yesterday was my Dad's birthday. He passed away about 12 years ago now, but I still thought about him and missed him all day. I don't feel extremely sad really, just a little bit of the sads. That's kind of how I've been feeling for a week or two now. Just a little sad and unmotivated. I don't really have much to be sad about. Everything is going great.
But after I finish my work for the day, I just haven't been motivated to do much of anything. Should be working on other projects, or trying to learn new things, or cleaning the house, or painting miniatures, or hiking, or anything. But I've been doing a lot of laying on the couch watching TV. Going to try to pull myself out of that.
So, this last week, I haven't really done much outside of work. I did go hiking once (maybe twice?). I've been playing a game called Wylde Flowers that I'm really enjoying. And we've watched some more movies and musicals. I watched the live version of Into the Woods and loved it. It was so much better than the movie version, it's kind of ridiculous. The movie seemed to miss the point of what made the musical so great. Also watched The Brain (1988), which was fun but a little slow for me. And we've been watching a bit of the Scott Pilgrim animated series and liking it so far. Oh and we watched the musical Black Friday by Starkid. I didn't like it quite as much as their others that I've seen, but it still had some very good parts and we had fun with it.
Well that's my week. We had a fun day yesterday, hanging out with friends, playing D&D and stuff. Slept a little late today. Gotta get back to work now. I want to try to get as much done in the next few days as I can, because I'll be taking a few days off for Christmas.
There won't be any ramblings next week, unless I decide to post a little from my phone. We'll see. I've been trying to stay off my phone as much as possible.
Hope you all have a great week and happy holidays. Love ya!

My dad and his death have influenced Come Home a ton. About halfway through the game, I realized that the central theme of the game revolved around how we deal with death and loss. Almost all my characters have had some sort of loss or are dealing with death in some way. Reba's situation in particular is pretty heavily based on my parents. Jamie's dad is similar to my dad in appearance. My dad was much smaller, but had that sort of imposing, scary vibe to him, until you got to know him and realized that he was just a goofball. Anyways. I could probably talk forever about all the little ways in my story that my dad has influenced them. He's always going to be part of my creations, even without being an explicit character in them.

2023-12-18 16:57:08 +0000 UTCWould you ever consider making an NPC in one of your games to be modeled after your father (looks and behavior), so he will always be a part of your creations or would that be to weird or unnecessary? Other than that, being a bit tired or unmotivated is understandable, especially right before the holidays. Don't sweat it to much.^^

2023-12-18 16:50:55 +0000 UTCSorry you lost your father. Parental loss isn't something that is ever fun. But holding on to the wonderful memories always makes it a bit more pleasant. Sounds like you've had some fun moments despite the sadness and that's always awesome to hear. You're definitely one of my favorite authors on here and I'm glad to see you're doing you. I hope you have a wonderful holiday! *hugs*
