RJ Ramblings

Hey everybody!

Before I start rambling today, I want to sort of talk about the ramblings themselves. Sometimes, I can get pretty negative in these ramblings. I always try to be honest with you all and let you see my struggles as well as my successes. And there are definitely both. The ramblings are not always happy, but they're not always sad either. I think most people have ups and downs in their lives like that. I'm just sharing them with you.

So when I have a down week, and I tell you that I'm feeling down, it's not a cry for help, I'm not asking you for advice, and it's not me seeking a shoulder to lean on. I'm doing fine. I'm just sharing my thoughts with you, which happen to be down at the moment. So please, offer your sympathies and your understanding, but I don't need advice unless I specifically ask for it, and I'm not seeking help from anybody, and I absolutely do not want to hear people tell me to take a break from making the game. I understand the sentiment, but that honestly drives me crazy.

Okay, with that out of the way, this week is a down week. Mere hours after I posted my last weeks ramblings, I got a call from my mortgage company, saying the the guy who had been working my case is no longer on my case, because he messed everything up. He had been telling me that we're all good, that we're just waiting for the closing date now, that I'm all approved. But now, I'm not. The company could not approve me, because with self-employed people, you have to average out the last three years of income, and while my last year was good, the two before that were not. So, now everything with the house is up in the air. We would not have moved forward with this house had I not been told that I was approved. I have already signed contracts at this point and if I pull out of them, I'm out about $3000, which suuuucks. But worst of all, I'm probably not going to get this house, which I was completely in love with. We're still working some things out. It's still possible that we get the house, but it's feeling pretty unlikely. So I've been struggling with this mentally for the last week, and it's been extremely stressful and frustrating and has been making me sad and angry at the same time.

So that's where I've been mentally. Physically, my allergies have hit me very hard and are the worst that they've been in a long time. I look like I got punched in both of my eyes and then slapped around in the face a few times too for good measure. I've been sneezing so hard and so often that my abs are KILLING me, it feels like I have razor blades in my nose when I breathe, and my eyes will not stop watering constantly. Add to that some woman issues that I won't go into detail with, and I've been absolutely miserable this past week.

And now that I've vented all of that out, I'll try to let it go and move on. In my spare time the last week, I've been playing through Mass Effect still. I finished Mass Effect 2 and am in the middle of Mass Effect 3 now. I've really been enjoying replaying these. I also picked up the Resident Evil 4 remake and have slowly been making my way through that. It's a stressful game, so I'm only doing little bits at a time. I obviously have enough stress right now.

I've also gotten back into miniature painting. I painted a couple new figures over the last couple of days and I've posted those on Discord. I also picked up an airbrush to try my hand at that for the first time. It's been very fun and relaxing to do, and I'm happy to get some of these miniatures painted. I probably have like 300 unpainted miniatures in tubs around here.

That's about it for me really. We were thinking about going out to see the Dungeons and Dragons movie, which will be the first time I've gone to the movies in a looong time. I haven't gone in a while, because my anxiety is so bad, but lately my anxiety has gotten a little better. I don't know if that's just because I haven't actually gone anywhere in a while, or because I'm actually feeling better about things, but it's a good thing, and I do WANT to go out, which is not a normal feeling for me. But, with my allergies being so bad, I'm not sure I want to be seen in public, looking like a beat-up raccoon.

Okay, I'm gonna stop here and get back to work. Hope you all have a great week. I'm sure mine will get better. Love ya!

A hard lesson to learn. Sorry For what it's worth. Your Realtor steering you away from Rocket even though they referred you to her is sign that she's looking out for your best interests. If you haven't paid for your appraisal yet, you might try raising a stink at Rocket and seeing if they will pay for it, or refunding it to you if you have paid it. You should also ask your agent if your insepction was provided to the sellers and if not, they may be willing to buy it from you. It's your property Then, you should make sure they know you are planning to leave them terrible reviews for deceptive pratices and essentially costing you thousands of dollars.

I am getting it back.

Rocket Mortgage sucks ass. I wouldn't send a self-employed client of mine to Rocket Mortgage for all the money in the world. You need a local bank or credit union, and if that doesn't work you need a local mortgage lender who you can look in the eye and sit in their office.

Lukeloveslakes

The lender that did this was Rocket Mortgage. I found them BEFORE I went to find a realtor. They recommended the realtor to me. I like my realtor quite a bit. She did recommend another local lender and I went to them too, but they could not approve. The situation is that my income through Steam is classified as royalties. And since I have only been receiving those for a year, they want documentation that the royalties will continue to come in for at least three years. But Steam will not provide that, because sales are not guaranteed. Basically, I am unable to get a mortgage right now. I was able to get the earnest money back, however, because there was a buyer's approval clause in the contract. I still lost out on the money that I spent on the option money and on the house inspection that I paid for. I have given up on the mortgage at this point and will be looking to rent instead, next month.

If you lose the house and you aren't working with a lender your Realtor trusts you should switch to one your Realtor recommends. If your Realtor recommended that.loan officer you should fire your realtor too. Forgive me, but I don't actually know if you're in the US, but the 3-year requirement is NOT typical for self employed individuals in my area. 2 years is plenty. Again ... Might be a good reason to talk to a different lender. They don't all follow the same rules.

I think he was. He was just gone and the new guy said he was "out of the picture" and that I wouldn't have to deal with him anymore. Besides lying and putting me and my realtor in a bad position, he was just awful to deal with as well. Talked in circles, like a car salesman. I could tell from day one that he was full of shit.

R.J. Rhodes

Wow, hope that loan officer was fired. That's outrageous behavior. I'm a realtor working in the US and average about 55 transactions a year. Any lender that did that to one of my clients would be DONE.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Hmm...sounds like a Two Flamethrower Problem...aimed at that idiot morgage guy. :) I agree with the others here - vent all you like.

Anthony Docimo

Nothing like venting, facebook gets all my venting, always feels better after, enjoy the movies

I think it's good that you stated it clearly - I'm one of those defaulting to 'trying to find solutions to problems' guys, so now I know and can adjust. Keep up the venting euhm I meant the good work !

Lexstok

For sure. Everybody is just trying to help, and I appreciate it, but most of the time I'm not really looking for assistance, just sharing.

R.J. Rhodes

Way back when I used to journal online I got a lot of what you're talking about. Seems some people don't understand that venting doesn't always require solutions, that the venting itself is the point.

I was bad enough before I started Battletech....

I am SO behind on painting my minis. All these bland paintless little people staring up accusingly from their communal box as if saying "We're naked, and not in the good way! FIX US!!"

Troy B.

Cool, am more Warhammer 40k atm, though I do play D&D - mostly online!

Mark

They're D&D minis. I backed the last couple of Reaper Bones Kickstarters and have barely painted any of them.

R.J. Rhodes

Fingers crossed for a better outcome. What minis were you painting? Wargames? D&D?

Mark

Hoping that everything turns out okay with the house and mortgage and other stuff, because you two and especially you deserve it. Keep your head up high and work...work on the game, dammit.^^
