SOUND DESIGN - PART 2 - granular, ringmod, FM basses
Added 2023-07-12 00:04:22 +0000 UTCvery sorry for being late on this...if you didn't know , i'm moving from NYC so my life is in boxes, all while playing shows and trying to finish music. so my apologies - that said, I did this in an airbnb so the audio isn't perfect but hopefully after July i'll have my full studio setup:)
another video also coming this month, a full walkthru of LETS GET ILL which is my next release.
0:00 - intro
1:50 - workflow + saving + organization (VERY important)
5:20 - FM bass #1
12:30 - FM bass #2
18:50 - FM Bass #3
20:50 - granular synth intro
23:15 - tempo to quanta formula - project BPM divided by 120 = number of grains
so for example if you want to do a half note at 144 BPM, 144/120 = 1.2, for 1/4th note it's 2.4, for 1/8th note it's 4.8, 1/16 is 9.6
25:00 - making pads from chord progression
26:40 - using pitchmap into quanta to force sound design into chord progression
33:10 - retune vs pitchmap
35:20 - generating random fills from basses/sound design using quanta
39:50 - second attempt, much better :)
43:20 - resynthesizing one shots through granular synthesis
49:20 - result, very sick
49:50 - "white noise bass" concept
55:45 - using ringmod on a more complex sound to create insane texture
57:45 - outro

this video was amazing dude! about to break my bank getting Quanta and Pitchmap but worth LOL . a cool idea for a vid would be a new track made from scratch. maybe not a full on track but your process on how to start one out and stuff. just an idea!
