The State of Ebonart

Things have mostly been weird and crazy this year for everyone on Earth. Sometimes it seems like the only thing that went right for me is making some fun porn.

I tried to set myself a goal of doing three comics a month. So far that hasn't panned out like I thought it would. I spend a fair amount of time working on stuff and a lot isn't fit to be seen.  Even the WIP you see is sometimes the fourth or fifth iteration of something. I am not to the point where I throw out more than I post, but it seems close, sometimes. 

I'm trying, though, to find a good workflow so I can make that happen. Now, many of the comics since the new computer have been longer,  yes. In general, comics are as long as they need to be. Every new comic is another learning experience. I'm still trying to improve my work and technique. But I need to find a faster way of creating, now that I have a faster means of producing.  

I also have not been taking as many commissions. I love doing them, but they also take up a lot of time. I've been putting people off for a couple months, now, so I hope I'll feel confident to re-open commissions early in the New Year. I'll handle the first requests first, and go from there until I can re-open them to the general run of fans.

[Explanation for the new people: I got a brand new machine in the middle of the year with a vastly better graphics card. That allowed me to cut the time to render a picture from two hours to around about 20-30 minutes. Often times, it's shorter; I'd guess an average of about 10-15 minutes]

We grew by 40 some-odd people. I have been able to maintain at least 100 members for several months, and we recently shot to  over 120! I'll have some polls and questions for you new guys soon! I really can't tell you how much that means to me. I was hesitant when I started this page. It was a little slow-going at first. It's still fun and still challenging.

Make some comments. Click likes on stuff you like. Reblog and retweet stuff you like. Ask me stuff on Twitter. Every little bit of exposure helps. 

I did 28 comics this year, and I hope that number goes up over the next year. I try like heck to ensure at least two comics a month, and sometimes that's very hard to do. So obviously I need to step back and look at revising some priorities and such to make sure it's as fast I it can be. 

I also started an experiment. The straight-porn Patreon site did not work at all, and pulled some of my attention from here, briefly. That won't happen again. 

So of course I started another. 

https://gumroad.com/ebonart is for posting some older works. Some people might want just a taste or only a certain type of comic. Good for them! This is also where I will try the occasional Different Sort of Thing.  I have an idea for something that I hope will make frequent commenter John Hormon very happy indeed :) 

Some other polls and such will be coming soon, including the Best Comic of The Year. We'll see the (likely) end of the Gassed and the Ringmaster storylines for Batman and Robin. Blue Bolt, Redshift, Shockwave, Superstar, and more will return. 

As always, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I look and every like and comment, and use that to try and see what to do next, If I make a test or fun art piece and it gets a lot of likes or comments, it'll probably become a comic sooner rather than later, or at all. So if you see something you like, comment on it! Like it. But comment, as well. Tell me what worked for you, even if it's 'man that made me hard as fuck'. That's still valuable feedback!
