Canterbury Waterstones book event, October 2024
Added 2024-11-14 11:14:33 +0000 UTCI'm working on a version which will have burned in subtitles, because it's not quite up to my usual audio standards, but I hope you enjoy! (I moved some things around and edited a bit because it's not good to name people on the Internet, even if you can't see them in the frame :D)

This is a lovely bookstore event; I wish I could have gone! As a rabid Fantasy Heroine shorts fan, I can't actually imagine how reading Just Stab Me Now cold would come off. I have read books where it took a bit to fall into the world of the story and figure out how to navigate that world. Similar, I suppose. The willing suspension of disbelief is a powerful force in the minds of sympathetic readers!

Honestly it's sad that so many traditional publishers will turn away something great because it's not similar enough to everything else. You'd think they'd totally want something fresh and new and groundbreaking so they could say to people "you've never read a book like this before." Glad you went the self-publishing route with your book instead of compromising to fit within someone else's ideas!
