Cheese Facts (and book related events!)
Added 2024-07-15 11:01:44 +0000 UTCI know, I'm shocked that I'll be out of the house too, but it's true, I will be at WorldCon, and if you're coming, do say hi :)
Also at Waterstones, but I'm not sure if it's a booking event or not, so watch this space for updates on that!

2024-07-30 19:54:28 +0000 UTCHappy that Jill has an event at a bookstore, vaguely near me (less than 200 miles by road)! (Checks calendar) Oh. That week I'll be eight time zones away. Probably not really a day trip option ...

2024-07-24 17:59:52 +0000 UTCLooks like worldcon has gotten some controversy this year with George r r Martin not filling in the form to participate in panels and then complaining that he wasnโt included in panels BBC just posted the news story

2024-07-18 13:37:20 +0000 UTCSchools in England only get about 6 weeks in the summer, mid July to end Aug. They get longer breaks between terms and half term is usually a whole week. Other parts of the UK summer is usually all of July and Aug but they get shorter mid-term and half term breaks so the days at school across the year are the same. The UK does not have 'summer school' as the US does.

2024-07-16 08:31:45 +0000 UTCDid Jill just kind of Rickroll us?

2024-07-16 00:22:20 +0000 UTCAmerican talking, but July seems very late in the summer for school to be getting out. Unless it's summer school, I think schools are usually out here by mid-June.

2024-07-15 14:47:32 +0000 UTCYou're in for a treat, Jill. "The Great Race" is 'great'. Not only does it have two sword fights, but one of them uses two types of swords. And Ed is right; it has what is widely recognized as the best pie fight ever filmed. Jack Lemon has been quoted saying that Professor Fate was his favorite role of all time. And I always get a kick out of: Professor Fate: "Leslie escaped?" General: "With a small friar." Professor Fate: "Leslie escaped with a chicken?" Enjoy!

2024-07-15 13:26:49 +0000 UTCYou should look up the term "Chibson Catostraster" and the term "bmusicshop meowdulator" on Google for details. Cats do hate Keyboards.

2024-07-15 12:12:49 +0000 UTCDessert is fruit, though, usually. Comes after the cheese course, IIRC? Soup, fish, main, pudding, cheese, dessertโฆI think thatโs how it goes. Not that Iโve ever had that many courses in my life, but I have a vague recollection of it from somewhere ๐

2024-07-15 12:11:34 +0000 UTCYou will love "The Great Race". However, the fencing takes a large backseat to (in my opinion) the greatest food fight in history. You should review that, too.

2024-07-15 11:46:03 +0000 UTCThe cat sabotaged the keyboard resting place in a subtle and devious way, because cat. You can take that as cat hates keyboard, or cat wants a new keyboard that gets warmer and is better to lie on, or just cats are subtle and devious. Evidence suggests cats are hard to pin down on these topics.

2024-07-15 11:30:54 +0000 UTCYour new house might have a ghost ... of a guitarist ... who hates keyboards ... maybe?
