It's here! I hope you enjoy this analysis of The Last Airbender's combat magic, and how...it isn't really the best, and also the novelty value of someone Saying A Couple of Nice Things about the movie, which is pretty much illegal on the internet. :)
Have a great week!
So, we've gotten a video on the original, now one on the live action movie... when we getting an episode on Korra? ;-D
I'm currently in season 3 of my rewatch and every fight with the Red Lotus is poetry in motion.

Important question: is it on Netflix? Because I do have that now. Second important question: is it really gory?

Cause and effect is for suckers, Robert. In THIS movie we like effect THEN cause. Because...reasons. :D

oh no!! you said the nice things!! the internet police are coming to take you to jail!! RRRUUUUNNNN!!!!
in all seriousness, i had to explain the earthbending editing problems to all my friends and it felt bad because it made me seem as tho i was "defending" the movie. Also, it seems like half the problems in the scene could have been fixed by panning the camera in the opposite direction. Why are we being shown the effect (bending) before the cause (the form)??

So basically I've now seen the "good parts version" of the movie? Sweet, thanks!

Well, good to know they're consistent about...er...being inconsistent!

For a minute there it looked like you were choking on how bad the dialogue was. I'm so glad you were able to "cough up" your opinion.

As someone who does practice Tai Chi, I can tell you that the performances are a mixed bag.
Aang's form is actually pretty descent, which doesn't surprise me since Noah actually knows some martial arts.
Katara is the typical bad I'd expect from someone who's never done Tai Chi before. She over-extends, her hips are never in the right place, and she barely moves her legs. If you watch Aang and Katara side by side, you'll notice Aang moves his legs a lot more than Katara.
But the extras..... My word. Sometimes it's so bad that it's laughable. Their form is just so bad. They are basically doing the marcarena.
And then some extras are doing it properly.
So Like you said, it's really inconsistent.
