Behold, a recent "conventionless con sketch" done partly for a Patron art request but mainly to try out (and time out) my old Con Sketch art approach. Based on a suggestion for Emp and Ocelotina from Empowered trading costumes but still winding up bedamseled somehow, here's the initial rough, scribbled out as a thumbnail on one quarter of a sheet of 8.5" X 1" paper:
I didn't bother to scan the initial underdrawing, but here are the illo's inks, done with PITT Artist Pens and Sharpies:

And the colors, done with only blue and red colored pencils:
Note that Emp-suited Ocelotina worked out much better than Ocelotina-suited Emp, alas.
Here's another jpeg, level-adjusted with higher contrast than the previous image:
Ehh, the adjustments are coarsening the red pencil work a tad, but arguably the results seem superior overall. What do you think, dear Patrons?
Artistically, the results were acceptable, but the worktime expenditure was not acceptable, as (counting scanning and Photoshoppery) the illo took almost exactly four work hours to complete. That's rough, folks, considering that I used to crank out four or five such pieces per day at conventions whilst signing and chatting all day; then again, those pre-COVID con sketches were rarely anywhere near this detailed, true. If I'm gonna do any more much pieces in the future, they'll need to take no more than three work hours (and less would be preferable, obvsly).
Anyhoo, that's all for today, folks; now, back to panel descriptions on my script for The Chaste and the Chained issue #2!
NEXT TIME ON THIS HERE PATREON: No idea, TBH, but something should be coming up in the next M/W/F slot. Let's find out together, shall we?
