2024/07/25 New work started!

Hi, all my patrons!

Before we start working on something new, I want to talk about a few things.

Right now, I have financial difficulties. I started with digital files and your precious subscription fees, but I've been seeing a steady decline in sales since the middle of last year. I'm holding out now because I'm doing occasional commissions with my printing business.

I don't want to find the reason out of external factors, because even at this moment, artists in the same industry are doing a good job, just because I don't think my work has been chosen by consumers.

I've been thinking about a couple of things,

First of all, the absence of marketing is the biggest. It takes quite a lot of extra time to film, edit, and upload to YouTube or Instagram. I have to do it one day, but I don't have any personal time at the moment because of the time I have to produce and other work. Sometimes, I end up posting my work process on Instagram.

The second is productivity. I make one or two a month and upload it, but for the same price, I can take more pieces from other artists. This is a pretty big flaw for me as well.

Third, quality. Personally, I'm doing my best, but I don't think it's the best quality I can. However, even if I take my time to produce the best quality that I can produce, I've experienced countless cases where I can't sell at all, so I'm meaningful in maintaining the current quality and improving even little by little.

There are many other reasons, but I personally think the big reasons are the three above.

I don't intend to give up on this, and I have a long way to go, so I finally decided to change the production process and increase productivity.

As you can see from the picture, it's usually the T-pose that we use to make video games or 3D animations. And the second is the meaningful result that we've had over the last few days of testing.

Personally, I'll aim to produce at least 3 or 5 pieces when I'm working on a topic in the future. I'll try to provide more files by increasing productivity first.

This is my first attempt, and I personally think it will take similar time (about two to three weeks), but I think it will take more time if we go through trial and error and various things.

Now let's talk about the new work.

This is a personal piece of work, and it's a series of Squardreaders that I worked on last time.

She's going to be carrying an anti-tank missile launcher, like a jablin or an RPG7. The weapon is still up in the air.

I don't have much to make, so it will be done quickly, but I don't know how long it will take because I have to re-apply the production process to my new process. But I'm not saying that I haven't done this, so I'll do less trial and error, but I think I'll have to learn a new program and get some stress from it.

Anyway, I'll have fun working on it!

I agree with you. What I'm doing is niche, which is hard to access. Most digital sculptors I keep in touch are either creating Warhammer's proxy or creating Japanese animated characters. Someone like me who makes with multiple themes is in a delicate position in the market. I've thought of posting to forums like Reddit a few times, but I didn't eventually try it, partly because my work was NSFW. Honestly, it doesn't matter if I put it up with a sexual thing in the work, but sometimes it was too sensational to cover it up because there were works that were meaningless. (Those things also drove sales.) However, I was a little lazy to raise the work aperiodically. Honestly, I feel it after writing the above, but it's quite an excuse. I'll try anything and figure out a way.

I'm trying to remember how I found you...

Curious how the new work flow will work out for you.

The problem really is that many of your miniatures are 'niche'. There are buyers out there for that, but most don't know about you. Have you ever been on the Reapermini forum? Not only do they have a subforum for Kickstarters where it's OK to post about new projects, but there's one for 3D Printing... And one about sculpting. As long as you don't post links to commercial sites(Patreon, MMF and so on) you could post a thread there showing how you create a particular mini, from start to finish. Having your Discord in your tagline should be fine. There's a subforum to show off pictures of something the users are painting, for encouragement and advice. And a 'Show Off' area for the final result. There's a strict no nudity rule there, though. (They're trying, and mostly succeeding in keeping the site child friendly)
