Added 2025-04-21 06:27:33 +0000 UTCOkay, finally. We've got the first peak at the big Olivia update. If you want to interact directly with this new content, get Olivia's attention while she's in playful mood, otherwise it's a random chance. You can cheat her mood to be playful by using debug command.

Tweaks to fade effects
Tweaks and improvements to intro (A few extra images of Rene, new Megan renders, Tom's cardboard box has a unique render, etc.)
Added a blur effect for dialogue scenes which is going to be thoroughly abused going forward
Items can now be classed as "Heavy", meaning they increase stamina costs while in the inventory for each instance
These items are rare and usually key quest items
Items can now be classed as "Super Heavy". When carrying these items your stamina costs are tripled and you cannot search, harvest, climb, hide, or crawl under doors
Dropped items now persist in the overworld as objects that can be interacted with and picked back up
Dropped objects despawn after 2 day phases
Default refresh rates for searchable objects has changed from 6 to 18 day phases, or roughly every 2.5 days
Default refresh rates for harvestable objects has changed to 12 day phases, or roughly every 1.7 days
Refresh rates may get nerfed again after some feedback about it
Thomas is stingy af now and will sell at a rate of 30% item value
Heat and Cold resistances of 50% or more will prevent you from dying at 1 hp.
Shock resistances of 80% or more will prevent you from dying at 1 hp.
Acid resistances of 90% or more will prevent you from dying at 1 hp.
Removed dev mode options upon selecting new game. Alot of them were bugged and I need to look back over them.
Fetch quests now update properly
If you lose the item before turning in the quest, the quest returns to the active quest list
Fixed bug with Roxy teleporting player to wrong place when climbing down off her foot
Fixed bug with max stamina modifying gear
E'los and Liem storylines have been started but not complete
Bobbypin can now be found either at the top of Rox's head or Anna's head. To get Anna's bobby pin, talk to Rene while she's bartending AND Anna is present
Now when you are revived by the lifering, 1/4 of your money and a random 1/4 of your scrap/supplies is removed.
Armor rating can now reduce damage taken during overworld, scripted events
Introduced a new mechanic called 'force resist' that might appear with gear. This increases the chance you can resist being pushed around by certain giant interactions.
"pushed around" describes events where a giant's action moves you to another area such as Olivia blocking your escape and kicking you or her shoe trap event where she can squeeze her toe to push you under her foot. These are scripted but pretty universal negative events that put you at a disadvantage, so being able to have a chance to counter them while wearing the right gear feels like a fun mechanic.
Gum Shoes are the only gear currently to take advantage of this for now. Similar to the climbing aid effect, only a few pieces of gear will utilize this effect.
Olivia has had extensive scripted events added
She will kidnap you if she's in the right mood
You'll meet two tinies she likes to keep around
You can escape or play along
Several different endings possible

On a totally unimportant note...
It seems Patreon changed the way it formats things and now those original images I used at the end of every dev-build post are broken. I'll try and fix it for the next post.
