Mid March Update

Hey, all! I'm gonna keep this one short and sweet, I just wanted to update everyone on the progress being made on alpha 2.0. A lot of patrons already know most of these details.

I have completely reworked a ton of mechanics from character stats, team building, equipment, battles, and many more things. I've also removed the weight system and grinding for experience. The game now focuses more on exploration, resource-gathering, and puzzle solving.

As for giant encounters, turn-based giant encounters have been removed in favor of simpler scripted encounters, much like the early days of Quest. There are puzzles and multiple branching paths and options instead of a rigid turn-based combat system.

I had to spend a significant amount of time reworking already existing events to fit into the new mechanical structures and systems. This took more time than expected and still need some work done to address lingering bugs, but it is mostly complete.

All that is well and good but now I'm on to new content and that is soaking up a lot of time. I've committed to recreating Olivia's entire bedroom scene from the last quest game by the end of March. It will be significantly different, though similar in premise. It's also, as I said, taking longer than I expected. I went a bit overboard with the amount of branching paths and scenes that I have to render. I originally was hoping to be done with Olivia's scene by mid-March and well, that hasn't happened.

This does unfortunately mean that Tina's event is going to get sidelined for now until I can finish Olivia's event, write the main story up to Sanctuary, and then do all the debugging.

I will be busy through out this weekend with social obligations and won't be back to work on the game until sometime mid next week. This means that the patron-exclusive one-off gallery is being put on hold for now until I get back. At which point I plan to do a few things. I'm going to create Nemara's gallery shot. After that's done, I'll post a new poll containing all the characters who haven't yet made it into the game, not including the mini-giantess. That includes, Bianca, Sip, Khalia, Stephanie, and Teresa. Iris will be thrown in there, too, since she didn't do so well in the polls and doesn't really have much of a presence in the game, anyway.

So, that's it. That's the plan going forward. To summarize:

• Wrap up Olivia's event.

• Take the player to Sanctuary.

• Debug + Devbuild releases.

• Public Alpha 2.0 sometime in early April.
