DevBuild #5 + End of February Update
Added 2025-02-28 07:06:03 +0000 UTCHey! So, it's the end of February and we have some things to talk about. Number one, I had a severe case of the flu over the last week which really hampered progress as well as took me out of my IRL job for a couple days. I had a fever that literally kept me from thinking straight for several days so I couldn't even spend my days off doing anything that required more thought than drinking bone broth and binge-watching tv.
Still, I managed to get most of the reported bugs addressed. I know there are still some problems related to Rox and Gwen's lunch scene as well as Joanne's scenes. I plan to go over those events with a finer tooth comb soon. I do.
However, going forward, I am excited. My plan for March is to speed ahead and wrap up some long planned story moments. This includes; Meeting E'los and getting to Sanctuary, Olivia's kidnap event, Tina's bedroom event.
These are my big stretch goals, prioritized in order. I think it's fair to say by the end of March I can have atleast the first two done. It's more of a stretch to hope for Tina's bedroom event, but I am trying to push myself to get more content done and so I'm setting loftier goals.
I'd like to talk about the gallery polls, too, for a moment. I think they've been a wonderful success. Even if I'm not entirely happy with all of the renders, they've done one thing very effectively, which is to allow me to go back over models I haven't really put much thought into in much longer than I realize. Every time I do a gallery poll winner, not only do I get an opportunity to experiment with new poses and camera angles, I also get a chance to revisit textures, outfits and much more from the new perspective of my upgraded rig. I've almost always been able to improve in every aspect with a little bit of time.
I also realize we're almost at the end of our current list of in-game girls, so... I guess the most logical next step is to do gallery polls for characters not currently in the game. If y'all have any ideas, feel free to offer them, maybe I could put it to a vote, but that's where I think we'll be headed next.
So, yes, that's the current state of the game. If all goes well, there could be a public release as soon as the end of March. For now, here's a changelog for the current dev build.

I'm glad! It feels like returning to the roots of Elsa's Motel. Instead of focusing on gameifying every interaction in a predictable way, I think leaning more into the point and click/text adventure style of things just makes more sense. Plus, actual battles just hold more weight now when they do happen.

2025-03-03 03:51:00 +0000 UTCIt's the second time I got really sick in the less than three months. I was very surprised by how intense it was.

2025-02-28 22:12:09 +0000 UTCGood to hear! I know this is a bit late now, but I really liked the combat overhaul being on an interaction-by-interaction basis instead of the typical Quest-style turn-based combat (I recall you asking if it was gonna be worth it and I definitely think it was haha)
