Early October Update

Hello! Spoilers ahoy!

You've been warned.

So, in typical fashion, I seem to have bitten off more than I can chew ^^'

I'm not too far behind but I am behind. In trying to include a few extra characters, I have encountered bugs and delays. This means a 5.0 update is gonna be pushed back by atleast a week. I am aiming for a mid-october at this point. To be more specific, no later than October 18th.

By trying to include Annalise and Joanne in the this pre-alpha I've slowed down my progress more than a bit. This means 5.0 will include interactions with Gwen, Rox, Olivia, Nemara, Tina, Iris, Anna, Rene, and Joanne, which is great! But also is the reason I'm delayed.

I also tried to implement an older mechanic I had written months ago called Hunting, where the giant chases you around and actively tries to catch you. It gives purpose to hiding and adds another layer of danger to exploration. Unfortunately, the code I'd written was woefully inadequate and several changes had to be made, up to and including almost a full re-write. This introduced untested bugs and scenarios.

I am moving along though. There have been no real major hiccups, it's just a matter of putting in the time to write the scenarios to showcase the feature, then playtest and solve the problems that arise from this feature.

I want this next update to be smoother and less buggier than my usual updates, so I appreciate your patience as I put in a little extra time to attempt some level of polish. 🙏

The hunting/chasing mechanic is barebones at the moment and is gonna need time to develop some depth to it but I think what I have for now is still pretty good. ^^

Very excited to hear about the hunting mechanic. It's something that I've wanted forever but no one seems to really make an effort to do it (probably because it's actually quite difficult to implement) so I am beyond excited to hear this. Good things come to those who wait.

It’s done when it’s done, take the time you need for a solid product.
